Not sure if this really suits Polidicks, but it's sometimes kinda blurred in terms of which category suits a story best, I accept. I wonder if Interpol somehow had dirt on somebody important in China and they took him in for that reason?
well it does fit the typical chinese gov modus operandi
Well, RIP. Guess he probably refused the order to use his position to further the CCP's agenda.
Pretty fucking scary how you can be the president of a global organization as well known as interpol and still be kidnapped without a trace by China

I guess this means if there's a risk of being kidnapped by the Chinese government, you need to have a private security escort with you at every waking opportunity.
I mean, as long long as the private security firm has no ties to China or Russia I guess.
Offering private security would negatively affect your social credit. The security people would simply get kidnapped too, if only with a bit more of a struggle.

> French authorities have opened an investigation and have placed Mr Meng's wife under police protection after she received threats. Who were these threats from I wonder. He warns his wife with an emoji when the Chinese gov are getting him, not quite what you'd expect.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/10/wife-interpol-chief-receives-threat-china-report-181009141009692.html After a week with no subsequent news, one evening while she was at home in Lyon having put their two young boys to bed, she then got a threatening call on her mobile phone from a man speaking in Chinese. "He said, 'You listen but you don't speak'," she said. He continued: "We've come in two work teams, two work teams just for you." She said the man also said, "We know where you are," and that when she tried to ask a question, he repeated: "You don't speak, you just listen to me." As a result, Grace Meng is now under French police protection.
Umm is this internationally illegal because it should be
it's not illegal if you can get away with it /s
When are we going to drop the angry letters and sanctions and actually do something about this shit? I think it's past time we started bashing heads so countries like this (China and Russia in particular) know we aren't fucking around and won't bend to them.
What I don't understand is why the murdered saudi journalist is getting so much coverage in the west that they even got trump to comment on it while everyone is totally silent on this
