Trying to remember two racing/vehicular combat games from ~1999-2001

The first game was quite similar to Carmageddon in many respects, but with much more of a focus on the actual racing, with the combat part just being more of a means to winning the race. I its graphics were just a step below Interstate '82, with a generally gritty, grainy and dark visual theme. The cars generally resembled modern ones for the time, maybe with a few sleeker designs. Between races you could purchase upgrades for your car, such as ramming spikes and armour plating. There might have been projectile weapons too, and I'm fairly certain there was a flamethrower. The AI racers each had little portraits and IIRC drove their specific cars. I seem to remember its name containing D and R. It's not Death Rally or Demolition Derby RAW.
The second game I remember even less about, but it was very similar visually to Powerslide with a more futuristic aesthetic, like Powerslide crossed with Rollcage. One vehicle was a red future-motor-trycicle, and they were all fictitious. The one track I remember was deserty, with a greenish sky and some high-tech structures. There might have been a track with loads of lava pits but that might be Rollcage I'm remembering.
Can't say i can recall anything from what you described, but i'm partially interested now.
Have you tried rolling through abandonware sites in racing genres? Helps me sometimes to rifle through a genre to find just that one game i'm looking for.
Were they possibly these:

To reiterate, I already found the first game. For some reason it just occurred to me to search for "Road", I checked on old-games.com and hey presto, it's the first thing that came up. I don't know why I made a comparison to Carmageddon since it has close enough to zero freedom of movement outside the track.

That Bandits game looks fucking sick, 9 year-old me would've shat himself with joy. Unfortunately the second game is neither that nor Rogue Trip. It didn't have actual guns and its graphics were 1-3 years more dated.
Other games that aren't it:
Pod, Killer Loop, Mad Trax, Powerslide
