Hope they brought on some new writers for this season.

Non region locked trailer. Fuck distribution rights
I forget, is this meant to be the recent movie universe, or a spinoff universe?
Prime Universe.
It looks better than the first season.
I see they went somewhat back to original Klingon designs.
Ever since this started I have heard absolutely nothing about it.
As a casual fan of the series, is this show worth the watch?
No not really, unless you enjoyed star trek into darkness then it's a sure bet.
You'll have Tuskin wear up and down in how it's accepted, but it's star trek only in name while Orville might be something up your alley though it's an odd experience with Seth McFarlin's.
alright take my opinion with a pinch of salt because i loved TNG, so that's going to be colouring my opinion
if you're looking for a absolutely passable sci fi show, probably worse than the expanse and early seasons of BSG, then it's worth checking out
if you're looking for a star trek show, absolutely avoid it: it completely misses the point of star trek, has absolutely none of the spirit of TNG, and the characters are all extremely weak compared to them
I'm waiting for the Patrick Stewart Star Trek.
Discovery is tolerable as a sci-fi show but good lord do they crap all over the Trek name. Recent Star Trek shows didn't always deliver interesting characters but Discovery takes one character and copy/pastes that character into different costumes. Every single character in Discovery is practically the same as each other.
Yes
It's an above average show I guess, but nothing to write home about. The writing is generally pretty mediocre, the characters are mostly unlikable or bland, and overall it's mostly just an action show without hitting any of the beats that made star trek good in the first place. There's a pretty good run of episodes in an arch around 2/3 of the way through the season though, where they really lean into the action shlock and have fun with it. It's a "watch it if you really don't have anything better to do" kind of show.
No Star Trek series has had a good season 1.
No, they all tended to be pretty mediocre and bad in ways. But none of them were literally so atrociously bad in a way that actively shits on what Star Trek is supposed to be and outside of name drops does nothing to actually make it feel like its supposed to be a part of the greater series. Discovery is a disaster that didn't need to happen and shouldn't keep happening.
Season 1 of Deep Space Nine was great. I just watched it for the first time last month and was amazed at the quality for the first season.
Nah
I actually kinda liked how Enterprise started.
TOS was good from start to finish.
Generations was terrible for the first season, better for the second, and great from the third on.
DS9 was pretty bad at first but the second season on are fatastic.
Voyager got better over time but it depended highly on the character of the episode, the Doctor's episodes are great but Janeway was all over the place.
Enterprise wasn't terrible (except the theme song, Jesus Christ) it was just kind of bland to start, it got continuously better until it was cancelled.
Discovery's second and third episodes are terrible, but after that it gets progressively better. Also the two episodes featuring Harry Mudd are top tier and I'll fight anyone who disagrees.
I liked the enterprise theme. The lyrics fit the premise of the first 2 seasons
Well finally.
I dunno man, I love TNG to death, but season 1 had The One Where They All Get Space-Wasted, The Planet of Racist African Barbarian Caricatures, and The Planet of Tanned Aerobics Instructors with Moronic Laws.
Interesting to note, only the episode called it a D7, every other source called it 'Sech', which is Klingon for 'Torch'.
Also this looks more like a K'Tinga, but that was essentially a more detailed D7 anyways.
It's just updated visually like the Enterprise, which yes as you say, was basically just the K'tinga class.
But either way, this is what I like to see, actually utilising the continuity ship wise instead of making crap up.
I'm just saying, it may have been a production error.
Just like how one episode had Stamets listed as Chief Engineer on a screen, but one of the writers said that wasn't the case.
season 1 of TNG had quite a few great episodes so calling it a terrible first season is falsehood lmao. is it the weakest season of TNG? then yes. but terrible? yeah sure go jerk off to STD instead i guess.
I never said Season 1 was terrible, I just said it wasn't good.
Aren't they getting sued for plagiarism, vast majority of the "plot" of season 1 was poorly ripped of some game. They then tried to blame it one of the writers, but apparently the original script didn't have any of the 'tardigrade mushroom drive'.
season 1 really struck me badly, I've watched almost everything star trek, but almost everything of discovery just feels wrong.
It's like I could maybe understand it if they made the discovery be some sort of black ops section 31 plot about the war, but just so much of it just feels off and doesn't make sense.
They are but the guy has not basis.
