Elon Musk to pay for water stations, filtration at all Flint schools

FLINT, MI -- All Flint Community Schools will receive new water stations and water filtration via a donation by tech billionaire Elon Musk.
The school district issued a tweet on Thursday night offering its thanks to Musk and the Musk Foundation "for investing in the health/future well-being FCS Students!"
It's also referenced in the tweet that the district is "Looking forward to our burgeoning partnership! More to come!"
In a reply to the district's tweet, Musk commented "You're most welcome. Hope to do more to help in the future."
...
Musk has also called on residents to email their lead test results and offered in another tweet to "organize a weekend in Flint to add filters to those houses with issues & hopefully fix the perception of those that are actually good."

When an unstable billionaire does more to help then the Republican government did in years.
Wait, this shit is still going on? What kind of shithole country USA is?
His massive ego means he does actually care how he's perceived.
Flint is merely the tip of the tip of the iceberg. A very large portion of the US still uses lead plumbing, including in cities like Detroit and Chicago, and water with lead in it from the plumbing may lead to reduced
intelligence and increased aggression.
Well it's being ran by the GOP so..
The GOP only cares about Tax Cuts, terrorists*, and court packing. Trump's 'done the most of any president ever' hasn't had a dent in the opioid epidemic, hasn't fixed the faulty infrastructure problem that thanks to flint has grown massively as schools and cities began seriously testing their pipes, and it hasn't halted the wealth divide in this country.
While I have no doubt this is publicity stunt to stem his recent small (?) fall from grace, I guess we should take what we can get.
When people's lives get improved just because a billionaire wants a rep boost.
To be fair iirc he announced his plan before the whole "pedophile" debacle.
That's actually how companies work.
You have oil companies putting money in for the Dakota Pipeline who are also the throwing in 0.01% of their profit into Global Climate Change research. They're at odds with themselves because they want a rep boost.
Saying =/= doing
Na infastructure week has either become a joke for when the WH is under a scandal again, or a plot to privatize our roads bridges and other projects by somehow getting companies to foot most if not all of the bill
I'm surprised people think we have a reliable government system, it takes a long ass time for anything to get done with the convoluted system that is Congress.
And the fact that our voting system is outdated as hell means that people who don't win the popular vote still have a nice chance at taking office as long as they can get most of their votes from areas with low population.
The Elon Formula:
If Drama_About_Elon == True then
DoAPublicityStunt()
end
If only children didn't have to rely on moody billionaires to get clean water in a 20 trillion GDP country with a 700+ billion military budget.
Except, you know, this had been planned since like, before the underwater child coffin pedophile thing.
That's exactly how the GOP likes it. Aggressive idiots are their primary voter base.
He's a very stable genius.
imo this just goes to show how much easier life could be for the most downtrodden among us if only the billionaires didn't feel the need to hoard so much wealth.
Welcome to the land of American Libertarianism and whatever the fuck Trumpism is supposed to be
fixed that for you
if drama_about_elon then
do_publicity_stunt()

People whine when billionaires waste their money, people while when billionaires do good stuff with their money. Elon's not even the one posting about it. A fucking school district tweeted out thanks because of his donation. Everything is PR but not everything is a PR campaign. the Musk Foundation has existed for years. The only way Musk could be more secret about it is if he did it under a pseudonym.
I mean fuck even the website is as basic as you can possibly be. There's zero information about it. If whoever gets the help wants to say thanks publicly, that's on them.

Depends on if you trust the government or not:

Most of Flint's water has been "safe" by EPA standards for two years. A big problem right now is people don't trust it for obvious reasons. Musk only pledged to install filters on buildings that could prove they were above EPA safe levels:

Whether or not the school was above EPA standards is not known. He was in communication with the Mayor so they probably coordinated through that. A school is a good place to start, anyway.
It's actually not, by and large. Most of the water is drinkable now.
Oh, I absolutely agree that Musk has been good for humanity in general and is choosing his projects with that in mind. I think people are just doubtful because they assume it's like when Bezos gave Amazon employees a pay-rise yet was actually stopping bonuses at the same time.
