A two-vehicle collision involving a limousine has left 20 dead in upstate New York, the New York State Police said on Sunday. Federal investigators were heading to the scene. Local reports said the limousine was carrying a wedding party when it collided with another vehicle outside the Apple Barrel Country Store in Schoharie, N.Y., on Saturday afternoon. Jessica Kirby, 36, the manager of the Apple Barrel Country Store, said multiple customers in the parking lot were killed when they were hit by the limousine as it sped down the hill on Route 30. “All fatal,” she said in a phone interview. “That limo was coming down that hill probably over 60 mph.” “I don’t want to describe the scene,” she added. “It’s not something I want to think about.” https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/07/nyregion/wedding-limo-crash-schoharie-ny.html
18 people seems like an awful lot of people to be crammed inside a limo
How the hell did 18 people die from 1 single limo? Wouldn't the people who initially get impacted slow down the impact for the people behind?
Fast speeds, fairly large vehicle, likely no seat belts. Also those do not look like airbags, they look like tarps to hide the bodies. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/230446/2f55b505-128f-4aa8-92ca-9e52f9ef38fe/image.png
Some of these SUV limos can fit in more than that, I remember my whole HS class fit into one. Pretty sure that pic is from a different accident.
You are seriously overstating the cushion of human bodies. Not to mention whatever else might have been in the limo. It's not at all uncommon to have bottles and glasses inside them. If there was any kind of tumbling invoked everything is tossed around at huge velocities that could make even a seat cushion do serious damage if it had any stiffness.
They went off road, it seems https://twitter.com/jessemckinley/status/1048967468537053184 https://twitter.com/jessemckinley/status/1048968510687338496
Yeah i was using a generic picture, I Don't think limos have side-airbags or anything like that.
“All fatal,” she said in a phone interview. “That limo was coming down that hill probably over 60 mph.” A limo going down a hill that fast? Jesus fucking Christ.
Looks like a rollover, most of the occupants who weren't killed in the initial impact would have been killed during the ejection.
Love people that drive critically important vehicles (large trucks or vehicles packed with people) and drive dangerously, their complete disregard for the value of their passengers in preference to their own desires to go fast makes me hard.
If you look at google maps it was a big ass hill they were coming down too. The limo probably started experiencing a lot of brake fade screaming down that hill and the driver couldn't stop it. With what looks like an Excursion limo they manufacturers probably just kept the stock braking and suspension system in place as well since it should be able to handle it under normal circumstances.
This store is like 10 minutes from me. Small world. They really should put out some huge-ass signs on that hill. Pretty sure it’s not the first time someone has crashed there. A while ago I remember seeing a car near there.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/08/us/new-york-limo-crash/index.html And the guy that owns the limo company is an FBI informant! https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/08/nyregion/prestige-limousine-crash-schoharie.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage
The driver of the vehicle also did not have a proper license, according to state officials Are you k i d d i n g me How was he even allowed on the road? How much data could the FBI possibly need to collect before they deem it something worth acting on?
The FBI wasn't collecting data on his business, he was a tipster to terrorist cells in the middle east.
Sorry for the shitty bump, but I just learned something really scary about this whole thing. well 2 years ago, me, my girlfriend and a bunch of our friends got a limo for our highschool prom (we live around 10 minutes from this crash.) The guy was an hour late to pick us up, and was super rude. He drove extremely fast and made a bunch of rough turns. well today I just saw a news report on a local station about this whole thing, and the company who owned the limo was the same company we used. Then they showed the picture of the driver. holy shit. It was the driver we had for our limo. we had that same same driver who crashed the limo, I’m 99% sure of it.
