I haven't played TF2 in a very long time but back in the day my favourite way to play was to set a level 1 sentry in some corner and stand in its field of view. Players would get so focused on the short man hurling buckshot at them they didn't notice the sentry chipping away their health.
Also the number of kills I got by just following people as they ran around a corner and assumed that they were safe because the sentry couldn't see them is ridiculous.
having your fully upgraded sentry nest instantly destroyed by a rampaging demoman was the single most heart-breaking moment ive ever had in a multiplayer game
i had more fun with combat engie bc of this
I haven't played TF2 in a while, but I did upload my favourite engie clip a few years ago. That section where he mentioned setting up near the objective, supporting your team by keeping your sentry alive without ever touching the point hit home.

One thing I like with Engie is that the difficulty of playing him scales with your skill level. The bigger threat you are to the enemy team, the more of the enemy team that will be out to get you, until you're at that point like in the intro where the entire team is making you their priority target.
I also like how every official map (except 2Fort but that map sux) is built with Engie in mind. There's always one spot where a base can be built without being overpowered, because it'll always have one exploitable weakness from either a Sniper or explosive class, forcing Engie to adapt his playstyle.
Jesus, I never realized how insane the Widowmaker was. I might start giving it a try.
Using the jag? That man has got balls. I like the stock wrench too much even if probably the one with the bleed effect is better.
This series genuinely makes me want to play TF2 again. LazyPurple is on a roll with these videos.
The Southern Hospitality isn't all that its cracked up to be. I used it for nigh forever (sans the random few times I swapped in the Jag). But really the SH is situational as hell, I only found it useful for anti-spy around my Engi nest. Otherwise, if I have a good pybro, I just always go Jag. Uncle Dan went into depth about it:

I just realized. To get that shirtless Engineer, he had to download the NSFW Engineer model and cover it up with the default engie's legs. Nothing stops him from making good content.
This series got me back into TF2 as my go-to multiplayer, but Engy has been my go-to class since I started playing way back in high school. It's just such a rewarding class once you get it down.
the download for the naked classes and the shirtless classes were together on MaxOfS2d's website. I remember being a kid and wanting the shirtless models for gmod and being scared since they came with the naked ones
Oh, in that case what a coward.
Holy shit this was so fuckin funny.
I was just wondering when he'd make a new one recently, too.
I've been an engineer main since I got TF2 way back in '09.
I love putting sentries in the weirdest spots.
I've never seen this guy before but the production quality on this video is off the fucking charts.
Oh shit its this guy!
We don't see enough of his videos around here.
I soon as I saw it was the Engineer episode I knew there was gonna be an Uncle Dane cameo, it was just impossible him it not to be there in some form. It would have been insulting, even.
Engie is very much on my rotation of go to classes but goddamn, the fun you have can very much scale with how competent your team or the enemy team is. Having that one spy that is always able to get to your spawn and sap your tele that your team can never seem to kill, or having that team that just folds as soon as they meet the enemy team and you just never have any chance to actually build.
Battle engie with stock shotgun and the jag is pretty fun though.
That was beautiful, how the hell did you keep that alive and even without the rescue ranger.
Pretty sure they've had a shirtless pack for a while, rather than the one with their wanguses floppin' about being the only one available. Wasn't always that way. yep. (cracks open a monster ultra energy drink)
