A continuation of Chinese Interpol chief reported missing on home visit, say Frenc..
The Chinese Communist Party announced late Sunday that the missing president of Interpol, Meng Hongwei, was under investigation on “suspicion of violating the law” and was “under the supervision” of an anticorruption watchdog tied to the party.
The announcement that Mr. Meng, a Chinese national, was being detained was posted online by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the party’s watchdog against graft and political disloyalty, on Sunday night; Mr. Meng was reported missing on Thursday. The Chinese agency did not give any further details.
Interpol says a Chinese official who was reported missing has resigned as head of the international police agency. The update came after Beijing announced Meng Hongwei was under investigation in China.
Interpol said Sunday night that Meng had resigned as president of the agency's executive committee, effectively immediately. It did not say why.
Meng is China's vice minister of public security. His whereabouts and status have been mysteries since his wife reported Friday that she had not heard from him since he went to China at the end of September.
In short: Head of Interpol Meng Hongwei traveled to China late September, went missing for a month, and now suddenly resigns with no explanation and China reports he has been arrested on “suspicion of violating the law” by a Chinese anti-corruption watchdog.
My bullshit-detector is currently off the chart.

If the Head of Interpol doesn't have enough clout not to get arrested in China,
that tells you enough in how much disarray modern global politics is.
Good to know China and Russia can do basically whatever they want without repercussions.
Well what can you realistically do? Sanction them and trash your economy? War and trash your economy and kill hundreds of thousands? It's sad to see but that's how the world has always been.
I'm really curious to know what he did to piss off the Chinese government.
