https://nypost.com/2018/10/06/hamptons-millionaires-build-luxe-panic-rooms-to-hide-from-ms-13/ “I sleep with a gun underneath my pillow: a Walther PPK/S, the same one James Bond carried,” said John Catsimatidis, owner of Red Apple Group and Gristedes Foods, who has a vacation property in East Quogue. “[My wife] Margo prefers a shotgun. Although, once, she thought she heard something, got the shotgun out and shot through the door.” Last year, Southampton Town Police Chief Steven Skrynecki publicly expressed concern that the gang might spread further east. When he deployed police equipped with antiterrorism gear, including automatic weapons, along the perimeters of summer 2017 charity galas, locals took note. this is wild as fuck
More like build panic rooms for when the prolitariat finally have enough and rise against their oppressors. We're going to reach the boiling point soon once even the barest necessities become too rich for the common white guy to afford.
man if I ever become rich sign me up for a panic room
sick as hell panic rooms should be a right to all americans
i cant say i blame them, MS-13 is a real huge fucking issue out here
a Walther PPK/S, the same one James Bond carried, What a stupid choice of gun given the modern age of firearms and the fact that you could have damn near any other gun without worrying about size (because you have a room to keep it in) and money. Concealability is like the only advantage that gun has and that doesn't count for jack if MS-13 knocks on the door.
That sounds like a lot but there is nothing I know of, human or manmade, that could possibly harm this family for three generations, including global nuclear holocaust, a pandemic or a second Ice Age. That sounds less like a panic room and more like a doomsday prepper's craziest dream to me.
Gotta stay safe from them scary mexicans. ooo-ooo-ooo.
the super-rich having pimped out bug-out holes is a sign to me we're probably hitting end-times
Nice, soon the "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" will apply to one group, either the gangs, or the rich, preferably both
well yeah; no duh you compare what happens more often in less stable countries itll look tame in comparison. doesnt mean we dont get them still doing fucked up shit over here. at least once a month id say theres a story about them in the local papers. even a couple years ago they stabbed someone in the school's parking lot right behind my house. whether or not richer people have anything to worry about is beyond me, but i dont think any fear at all is baseless.
MS-13 is actually terrifying and something nobody would ever want to actually deal with. But the "shoot the shotgun through the door" thing is lol
They have literally always had these
I'd pimp my house out with a panic room even though I'm not massively wealthy. Just seems the smart thing to do. Though I guess I am insanely paranoid though hahah
not to mention if ms-13 just does what gangs normally do and spray the house with bullets from the outside.
The fact that the superrich of NYC have access to firearms while the people most effected by crime, namely the lower-class, is fucking disgusting. If I ever needed more reasons to believe that gun control is racism and elitism in action, it's shit like this.
the only doomsdays we have coming are either a nuclear war or catastrophic climate change, both things a panic room would only buy you a few months at best against. If these rich folk want to save themselves they would work to build a better society that didn't have to worry about being wiped out by our own hubris.
Living in space is a no go, it will fuck up people's bodies to such a degree that they might not be able to live in normal gravity after five years, unless they find a way to make artificial gravity. And the isolation, and resources, and what happens if something blows up.
Just a bunch of pearl-clutching mall ninjas who don't know what they're actually doing but want to seem tough without putting in any effort.
I see at least 3 guns in that picture of the panic room that are illegal in New York. Do gun laws not apply to the obscenely rich? [sp]I'm kidding I know they don't.[/sp] Also MS13 is not that big of a fucking deal. They're really not as dangerous as the media likes to hype them up to be. Christ.
Gun Control by it's very nature is an attempt to regulate in such a way where only the rich can afford firearms. Hence why when I see people demanding safes, mandatory classes, registration, ect... I shake my head. It's always been about disarming the weak, those of a different race, of a different religion, and of course anyone who doesn't make over $100,000 a year.
Don't forget taxing certain types of gun, or mandating specific features to make it harder to produce guns cheap.
Or how you couldn't concealed or open carry handguns for the longest time... Or how laws were made to outlaw the carry of knife for self-defense.
If I were to guess, the AR at top has a pinned stock and no muzzle device (can't see the muzzle in the photo obviously), the Uzi I have no idea about, and the AR at bottom is a .22LR judging by the slot in the magazine. I wanna say NY has slightly less strict laws than California, so I'd be surprised if anything in there is actually illegal. Still, the people in the article have clearly demonstrated that they're idiots with more money than sense, and really shouldn't be trusted with firearms. I mean, come on. An Uzi for practical use? What is, the 1980s?
they were only made a thing by the gop and Trump. yes they're bad but they've been used as a scary boogeyman
I believe the AR would also need to have a mag locker on it to prevent the magazine from being detached while the gun is fully assembled. Those are a pretty common feature of "ban state" ARs since, while they make the rifle significantly more dangerous for the user, get around the legal restriction of detachable magazines. As far as I can tell that Uzi is just plain illegal because it has its stock folded. In NY folding stocks are illegal, so it would have to be pinned in place, but if it's pinned folded then that would normally make the weapon a pistol, but it can't be that either since that would also be NY illegal and its barrel is too long to be a pistol, so I think it'd be an NFA item, which are also illegal in NY. The only possibility is it could be grandfathered in, IE the current owner bought it before 2013.
I mean it's just every other day you hear about wealthy Americans getting snatched up from their homes. These poor rich people. They're left with no means to defend themselves from the rampant MS-13 non-cartel-related attacks except to blind fire any time they hear a noise in the off chance some shrapnel lands in of the many, many cartel members that exist in their likely-gated communities.
Since global warming is gonna kill us all I should probably be spending all of my money on a bomb shelter in the appalachian mountains filled with non-perishable rations and begin downloading every possible TV show, book, song etc. I can find
how stereotypically sheltered
I find it more ironic that a bunch of rich fucks that presumably dodge taxes are buying safe houses instead of said taxes being used to fund investigations or help the police deal with the issue themselves.
