I can't remember the last time i watched a Jimquisition video an didn't feel like his perspective is a bit skewered. I really don't think he's in touch with his audience anymore...
Wow, Jim Sterling is not ranting about how tri-pul-ay companies are the devil themselves and also I actually agree with him for once.
Well the first one is kinda because you cant go through the day without seeing at least one AAA fuckup but you know
It's more that Jim Sterling fails to understand that video games are a business designed first and foremost to make money.
I think he demonstrated that understanding in his schooler shooter game video, I think his general line of what is acceptable and what isnt is just somewherevdifferent from what you or others may think
I find his critique of AAA games companies tired too. He was right to post about Shadow of War and stuff, but he often makes videos that complain about cosmetic items, and I honestly don't care much about them, myself.
I'd argue he very much does understand that, he's made several videos directly about that. The problem with AAA game companies is their business model is a garbage fire no matter how you look at it. You can make games as a business and make profit without screwing over everyone involved, that's the running theme of his whole channel.
That's the case for quite literally everything that isn't a charity. Doesn't mean they should get away with the shit they do, we have regulations for a reason.
Why are you such a corporate shill?
Not quite correct. It's not only about making money, but making as much money as possible, which fucks over consumers in the end. Jim understands that perfectly fine, as he mentions in all videos talking about those topics.
Or, as Jim would put it:
He doesn't have any issues with companies who exist to make money. He understands that, and he even agrees with it - developers should be rewarded for their work.
His issue is with companies who exist to make all the money.
Being in a business is not a free pass to evade tax or treat employees like disposable tools in the name of "making more money"
