Those bones popping out of the licker's meat D:
Really showing off that gore tech. And I can see why, jesus.
i wonder if people are flipping their shit over how this looks more like re7 than REmake
Ehhh, is that UI just a placeholder? I didn't really like it in 7.
On more cynical places like imageboards, yes. They simply won't shut up about how "this is a disgrace to RE2 by turning it into RE6 with RE7 visuals"
5:30 man that zombie totally pulled a animation-cancel move there...
That controller aiming was more terrifying than the gameplay.
That's how the game controls, Resident Evil 7 was the same way. They have a bunch of mechanics in place to make aiming feel more realistic and just more difficult in general, such as a form of momentum when aiming, as in you have to account for additional movement after stopping the stick if I recall correctly(it's been a while since I played Resi 7). I personally loved it, but it is definitely hard as shit to aim.
i dont like how leon or claire look and while i would've preferred it done in the style of REmake i am fine with the RE7 spin on it. looks otherwise pretty decent so far.
Looks great, might actually be the first triple A game I buy in ages.
still not really feeling Claire's design, the whole jeans + jacket thing is just really dull and overplayed. even the goddess on her back is barely noticeable now, and that's like the core detail of her classic design. it's almost like they just added the bare minimum of RE2 Claire things and then said "fuck it".
Hopefully the game will have unlockable costumes like REMake

Man I fucking wish Capcom would stop hyping me up for those cool as fuck looking games only to remind me of the state of the game industry in the same motion. Certainly makes the game feel a lot less special when it goes through the same treatment as the rest of the AAA industry.
No classic skins???
Come on capcom
it's a shame it's deluxe edition dlc bullshit cus that noir claire outfit is rad
That dlc is entirely inconsequential though, asides from the retro soundtrack I suppose, but I'm sure the new one will be more than adequate given Capcom's terrific track record with their soundtracks.
Capcom has actually been rather good in terms of DLC and adapting to the new industry, with no microtransactions in any of the games I've played in recent memory. Also, although those costumes look nice, they almost certainly have other, and most likely better, costumes in the base game to unlock.
I miss the old fixed camera angles with tank controls
Used to hate them but now I prefer them so much more than standard controls in survival horror.
I think a lot of it for me is that I grew up on them, but I became such a beast using tank controls that it's a travesty that I can't use that useless skill any more lol. I do like the looks of the gameplay though, it seems like a good blend of the action of RE4-6, and the intensity of the older games where you couldn't always see what was coming(since it's so hard to aim).
I still kinda wish/hope that there's an unlockable fixed camera/tank control mode(sorta like the easter egg in Lost in Nightmares) though.
You're right, I didn't think of that. My B
Do what I did and get into RE speedrunning. Put those skills to use.
Only thing I don't like is the UI and sounds, but I guess those are placeholders.
A similar yet obviously modernised system like the one in past REs as a throwback would be cool.
I can't wait for the new wave of Leon/Claire porn
How likely is this RE remaking trend to continue? I'd blow my load for a RE3.
Jesus chriiist this game mmmm
I didn't want to get the retro soundtrack, but fuck it... I liked it way too much. Gave the game a very dire feel.
The one thing that kinda bothers me about this remake is how bullet spongy the zombies are. They just shake off headshots like it's nothing. It's understandable for enemies like the Licker, but zombies shouldn't be that resilient. It makes me not want to fight them, and that sucks because the gore is awesome.
RE Engine porn kind of wigs me out because all the characters are photogrammetry scans of real people, so it's basically like the 3d model equivalent of deepfake
I mean, DMC V will have microtransactions, so that part is going to change fairly soon if you are into that.
This being said, the issue I have is that, while inconsequential, bonuses like these used to be in the base game with no fuss and no muss. Now, it may turn out that the game has extra skins by default, but RE4 gave you a cool mafioso skin for free, this one requires you to pay out the ass for a deluxe edition for something similar. RE0 had a whole lot of skins not one of which was DLC, and RE7 had no dlc at release as far as I can remember, instead opting for large content updates later on.
They're a menial part of the video game industry by now and it's sad to see it that way, because I still remember the time when people were legitimately getting mad over those things, until cynicism and complacency slowly took over. It's gotten to the point where I just add an extra year to the release date of any game I'm interested in just because I don't want to miss out on content I'll probably never experience if I play the game at release, since I rarely come back to most games.
Pretty disappointed that the flash grenade didn't blow that zombie's head off at 5:30 and it still absorbed like 3 bullets to the skull, come on. For that I expect the amount of enemies to be extremely conservative when compared to the original.
I haven't been following DMCV so I had no idea about that, and it's strange that they even made the decision to include microtransactions since the RE2 Remake doesn't seem to have them and it's releasing around the same time.
As for RE0, they actually did have a few dlc costume packs released for that, but they were entirely unnecessary and very similar to this RE2 "deluxe pack". I figured they'd stick with the RE7 method, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make as much profit as they'd hoped(like how the GTA IV "episodes" apparently made no money).
That's the point though.
Zombies in RE2 used to take well over 6 bullets from the standard 9mm pistol when not aiming for the head iirc. The point was to force you to make decisions while navigating areas, who to shoot, who to run away from. Hence the survival aspect, more or less.
A good and fun example to look at is the Super Best Friends gameplay of RE2 and 3. They literaly say "kill this guy, dodge this one in this particular way, kill that guy..." not only because its more of a hassle to kill everything and takes longer which ends in you not getting the A rank, it also wastes resources. There ARE plenty of handgun bullets in the game, but ehhh.
But they DO kill some zombies in particular because they do go back to some of those areas, and it just makes it easier to traverse the game like that.
Just don't waste ammo on the tarantulas. They're useless. LITERALY walk past the giant acid spitting tarantulas, as they don't even think about touching you.
Sidenote, I hope they think about RE3. I want to see Nemesis and its encounters remade.
