Dunkey is literally never going to give up the "Assassin's Creed is a good franchise" joke
If you keep joking about it, maybe it'll become reality eventually.
... were there always damage numbers in Assassins Creed games?
It started in Origins because they added levels and equipment and the like. Previous games just give you weapons and equipment that do a set amount of damage against enemies with static health levels.
They started it in Origins and you can turn it off.
It started in Origins since they doubled down on the RPG mechanics.
I didn't even know there was another Ass Creed game coming out.
This why I can not fucking stand open world games most of the time. A vast sea of content, but it's almost invariably deep as a puddle. You've seen everything the game has to offer within the first ten hours, but they balloon it to insane proportions by just copy pasting shit over and over. I have had more fun exploring Dying Light's relatively small but finely crafted open world than I have with almost any other open world game thus far, and that's entirely because its small enough that they were able to spend more time working on the shit that actually matters to me: like compelling game mechanics and skill trees, and interesting side missions that are all completely unique (even if they are ultimately extended fetch quests for the most part).
Origins was so good it's a shame this isn't as good.
I haven't played Odyssey yet (I'm waiting until all the DLCs are released, frankly), but these issues seem reminiscent to ones found in Origins. The "story coming to a standstill" because of the level system was something I recall some complained about with Origins. Same with the mircrotransaction stuff. If anything, I'd say from a gameplay/technical level Odyssey is pretty much what Rogue was to Black Flag.
