Last time i played zombies in 3, I had no fucking clue what to do because the main objective went from "survive X amount of rounds" to "put the cursed book hidden in a randomly placed corpse onto a pedestal, then summon a demon boss, take it's fake cursed eye that drains health, then follow the tomb of the zombie lord to collect his crown of teeth then," ect ect ect. I get that the eastereggs are cool, me and some friends used to play ascension and spend hours trying to do the easter eggs, but when the entire focus of the map is around it and it becomes so fucking tedious that you would have no clue how to continue without a guide, its just eughhhh. Especially when you can get booted for not knowing and just wanting to play some zombies.
I don't consider what they do with Zombies to be "easter eggs" at all, it's just contrived nonsense to pad out Zombies.
Honestly zombies is porbably the most interesting part of the new CoD games. Surprised they haven't decided to do a campaign mode to showcase all the weird story stuff. It's basically the FPS equivalent to Kingdom Hearts in terms of narrative.
I wish CoD zombies would just become its own standalone game.
I wished they should but Activision didn't think this will make bigger buck as standlone/spin-off game series.
Oh man, I feel dirty for supporting what's essentially glorified ports, but I fucking love Mob of the Dead so much that I'm happy to see it again Gotta post these here since it has the best soundtrack of any zombies map https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qR9fCXR8oQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gby9vPKRJxc&t=11s
I played a fair bit of Infinity Warfare and World War II's Zombie modes, they were enjoyable to play, didn't really play the DLC maps though, Zombies in Spaceland was fairly straight forward in it's layout and wasn't a visual mess, the DLC maps were though, World War II zombies though meant buying the DLC I didn't even buy the game so that wasn't going to happen. Black Ops Zombies though, 1 - 3, didn't play much of them but the same thing happens every time, the first map is relatively simple but still done well enough that it doesn't get boring quickly, it takes a while, the DLC maps though are just fucking, so much shit going on it's really off putting.
Standalone CoD zombies with maybe a mini-campaign, or a choice between the traditional endless waves or with objectives or at least set waves ala Killing Floor, with a lot of fan-favorite maps along with some new ones exclusive to it, and bundle it with their new Blackout Battle Royale mode and I can see both being an attractive option for those only interested in the zombies mode + battle royale mode and a decent moneymaker for Activision
