Didn't we actually have people on here falling for this a few weeks ago?
I'm not surprised its fake but a little surprised its government made.
Does the Russian government want men to hate women? I don't exactly doubt they would, but it seems bizarre that they'd employ propaganda for it.
Well considering "man spreading" is something that some people actually say exists, it's not exactly hard to believe that someone would go to this extent to be this much of a dumb cunt about it, even if in this instance it's fake.
Discredit feminists, sow division and discontent within western society. Seems in-line with what they've been doing so far.
Russia is already close to being the misogyny capital of the world. Totally legal to batter your spouse to death there. A woman assaulting a dude on the subway in Russia and living to tell the story is not an occurence. Half the men doused in the video were not spreading.
"See? The feminazis, the gays, transgenders are waging a war against us normal people. At least there is still countries like Russia where they still keep the good ol' moral values!"
Oh, fucking hell. I hear it so often from people around me, as well as from my own family members.
I am sick of this shit. Especially since it's even coming from within my family. And I obviously would not be suprised if we fount out that most of this divisive bullshit came from Russia.
Well I was 100% gullible it seems.
It seemed like the exact thing people would do too and I didn't even question it.
LOTS of people did. One person even suggested the person who made it should be prosecuted even if it is fake, which seems pretty insane to me. The strange thing is that I quoted a Russian news agency who said it was fake in that thread, so I don't really understand why they'd admit it if they were responsible for its existence.
I've been seeing a lot of variants of this for various social justice centered causes and to be honest I don't really see it. Those dubbed SJW are annoying and everything but I don't often see them being physical or violent as often as other groups.
The majority of the people who needed to be told this won't care and will continue believing it's real because it confirms their biases.
I can absolutely see a crazy person pouring bleach on people for 'manspreading', but the kind of person to do that wouldn't do it so calmly and silently.
I had wondered pretty heavily whether this was the case but I didn't want to say it out loud for fear of sounding like a conspiracy theorist.
I knew it was fake because none of those "random" Russian fellas got up and punched her and then didn't kick the shit out of her while she's KOd like real gopniks
Come on, I can't go a week without seeing some idiot on the bus pushing himself uncomfortably close to a woman sat next to him
You don't see why continuing to believe that it could happen even when it's proven to be a lie is still taking the bait?
shocker
They more or less are. The overwhelming majority of s-jews have been outrage bait from pol and other far right agitators, many of whom get Russian funding and support.
Sanius Squad was the prototype.
honestly the reason why i thought it was fake was because i found it hard to believe that there was a feminist in russia that wasn't immediately getting arrested for pulling a stunt like this
remember pussy riot
I often wonder how often Facepunch has been targeted by Government-funded propagandists. There have undoubtedly been some very suspicious periods of accounts showing up in groups to deliver insane talking points about everything from North Korea to Duterte, I remember a few people posting a couple of years ago in every North Korea thread about how North Korea was more prosperous than South Korea, and that the only reason we think they're poor is because the western media has an agenda against Kim.
Most of them get banned as gimmick accounts or because they inevitably devolve into mindless flaming or demanding the mods ban people who dissent to their messages.
kinda crazy you look at literal propaganda and just say 'but that's how it really is'. you've just been shown there are actors working behind the scenes for the express purpose of making this manspreading fad look bigger and worse than it really is, and just because it validates what you already thought, you don't even think to question it, and fall in line. scary.
if it wasn't staged she would've got her head caved in
Well it's successful propaganda, I've heard a couple of Trump supporters that I know, use the video as ammunition against the left and the "cucks". It's just another way Russia is affecting American opinions.
If you're man spreading on a bench that can seat 8 and you're the only one on it, I think it's fine
Knowing Russia, if this wasn't staged that girl would have had her head slammed around for sure
y-yeah haha who'd be stupid enough to believe this
The Russian government notoriously funds and promotes all sides, in particular extremists, in order to create a more apathetic internal political climate.
In any given government there will always be a faction of people who's single-issue is "dissatisfied with current government." That will the whole and the sum of their political acumen. These people the ignorantly fill out the ranks of the opposition parties, or if there's no functional opposition, the extremist minorities.
However if there's a Kremlin dollar behind even the lowest level of opposition, even the most wild-eyed extremism, then it becomes nominally impossible to feel like you're really "defying" the government, and the only option left is to give up.
