The official seemed to suggest Trump has actually attempted to fire Kelly, but the retired Marine general reportedly just ignored him. There's also the fact Trump typically uses Kelly to fire people, the administration official told Nuzzi, so he doesn't know who to call upon to get rid of Kelly.
"When the president says, 'I need you to leave,' Kelly just ignores him," the administration official said. "I think the president just doesn't know who to call to fire him. Normally if the president wanted to fire somebody, he would call Kelly to do it. But there's nobody else to call."
Further proof that Trump doesn’t actually know how to fire people.

Half the administration are probably in KKK attire at home, so this is rather accurate.
What a power move.
So we know who the Cheney is this time
Pretty sure Romney hates Trump’s guts.
He was still ready to be Trump's VP though, even if he does hate them. At any rate, I mentioned Romney because of his "I like being able to fire people" thing.
The fact that he says " I need you to leave" instead of something more melodramatic and doesn't try to insist on firing him when Kelly ignores him makes me really think he does not like confrontation so any from of resistance makes him quietly back down.
Considering Kelly was an Infantry officer at some point in his career, I can see why he's able just put his balls on the table to Trump like that.
I can't think of words, this is both hilarious and pathetic, and the goosestepping morons that think he's some big in charge manly man will just make upsome excuse for this to rationalize the fact that Trump IS a wimp with their idealized version of him.
"You're fired"
"No I'm not"
"Well fuck what do I do now"
Just in case his extremely limp wristed meetings with North Korea and Russia, or his draft dodging, didn't make it obvious enough that he's a coward.
"kelly pls go"
"no"
I'm reminded about a Steve Jobs anecdote. Some guy who was relatively new at Apple was in the hallway talking to a colleague, and Jobs emerged from one of the rooms where he was having a meeting or something, and as he was passing by, he stopped and looked at the newer guy and said "You're fired! Get out!"
The new guy was shaken as Jobs stalked off into the elevator with the other high-level staff, as he felt his job security crumble in an instant. After the elevator closed, the guy he was talking to said, paraphrased, "don't worry, keep working at your job, just keep your head down for a day or two and he won't even remember this."
The difference between Trump and Jobs, among very many, is that Trump is such a coward he never fires anyone to their face where they'd be able to push back and yell at him. He always gets someone else to fire people, away from his presence, or he just fires people by announcing it over Twitter.
What a pathetic excuse for a man, especially since his TV celebrity is largely based on a persona that fires people.
This sounds like one of those times Jobs got pissy at someone and took it out on someone else (which he did quite a bit), but Trump...just gets pissy on Twitter. I don't think there's ever a time he's not pissy.
He's pissy because, despite his best efforts, the world does not in fact revolve around him and he feels that it should. He's a deeply inadequate, unhappy man with a smoking crater where his self-esteem should be, and to avoid confronting this he projects his inadequacies and worries on others while convincing himself that he's utterly perfect and great. Whenever reality denies him his fantasy he lashes out.
What about when he’s being pissed on in Russian hotels? That sure seems to make him happy! 👀
I wish people would stop spreading the watersports lie. He didn't get peed on. He allegedly asked the hookers to piss on the bed Obama slept on, which I think it's even worse. One is a fetish and the other is pettiness.
Bullies are often cowards who buckle at the first sign of someone standing up to them.
I can imagine if Trump was a comedy:
"Alright, here comes the butternut squash soup with chilli & crème fraîche. Here's Mr. Trump's, and here's Ms. Ivanka's. Call me when you're done for the second course."
"Good. The best soup. You can just- you can smell it. Hmmhm. Great again. What's the next meal?"
"A Big Mac. Toy included, of course."
"We had that yesterday too! Horrible. Useless. WEAK! You're fired!"
"You asked for it, sir. And every night."
"Nghhh. Shut up.
Ohh oh! This is boiling! HOT! Smoking! YOU'RE FIRED!"
"I shall remind you, you're supposed to blow on it."
"*grumbles*"
Add some canned laugh tracks inbetween and we're up to something.
Its less to do with balls and more knowing your boss is an unstable insecure old man who doesn't command any actual respect or loyalty from those around him.

This plays out as an episode of the Office. Replace Trump with Michael and Kelly with Dwight and you've got a cold open
"I never back down."
"you tried to fire me just now and backed down."
"fake news."
Literal cartoony supervillan behavior. This is the exact shit they'd write into a kid's show as a gag.
