Shurat HaDin's lawsuit is based on a 2011 Israeli law allowing legal action to be taken against one “who knowingly publishes a public call for a boycott against the State of Israel.” Although the case will be heard in a Jerusalem court, the law applies to foreign citizens and the ruling is binding abroad, according to international legal treaties. What am I reading
Everyone, we should boycott Israel.
why would we when they support the party that has currently maintained power by twisting and bending democracy to their goals.
Question: is there any legal standing or precedent in a country like Israel being able to sue people internationally for protesting, or will this be laughed out of the courtroom? Either way though they need to fuck off with this bullshit. “Israeli citizens will not sit quietly against these calls. We want people to know that there is a price to pay for boycotting Israel.”
This is like the annoying kid in class who has a teacher as a parent.
Within Israel itself, the Government will probably win the case. However, abroad, there's little to no precedent for a country recognizing and compelling their own citizens to submit to such charges from other nations. Indeed, extradition is usually carried out on the basis that both countries recognize the charge (be it criminal or civil) to be valid under their own code of law, or substantially meritorious and in the spirit of their own laws. That said, given Israel's place in world politics and frequency for unprecedented consequences, it wouldn't surprise me to see some sort of internal pressure come about should the case go ahead. Especially with how fervent Israel has been about fighting BDS lately. Note: The wording of the article is ambiguous about what court the suit will be taking place in. I read it and presumed she was being sued within the nation of Israel according to Israel's laws (essentially an international show trial), but if it's a suit being brought in a New Zealand court, I can't imagine it sticking unless New Zealand has the most amazingly generous reciprocity laws in history (that is, laws concerning the recognition of other nation's laws that do not exist in NZ.)
Who's more Laughable? Lorde or Israel?

"pay damages." Even more ridiculous than the notion that instances of piracy = lost sales
fuck off Israel lmao
What do you mean you won't let us sue you? Do you hate Jews?
