Trump says 'rogue killers' may be behind Khashoggi disappearance.. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday “rogue killers” may have been behind the disappearance of prominent Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and Saudi Arabia’s King Salman ordered an internal investigation into the case. Trump said he had spoken with King Salman about Khashoggi, a critic of Saudi policies, and that he was sending Secretary of State Mike Pompeo immediately to meet the king and travel to other places as needed. Khashoggi, a U.S. resident and Washington Post columnist, vanished after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago to get marriage documents. Turkish officials have said authorities believe he was murdered there and his body removed. Saudi Arabia has strongly denied killing Khashoggi and denounced such assertions as “lies”, saying he left the building shortly after entering.
I want Trump to give a take after talking to Erdogan now, just to see exactly how different it would be.
"He told me in a very firm way that they had no knowledge of it. He said it very strongly” Well count me convinced.
This is a classic Trump move. Because he clearly does not want to come out against the Saudi's, he plays the "who knows" game until it becomes partisan enough to where he can openly deny it and tout it as some sort of "Democratic conspiracy". If it doesn't become politically acceptable among his base, he'll just continue with the "who knows" line until people stop paying attention and nothing will happen.
Like how Putin said Russia didn't interfere in the election?
