What's the meaning of this shit? Hey, remember MSN? Y'know, MSN Messenger? That awesome early 2000's chat thing that everybody loved and you could annoy all your friends with by spamming that fucking NUDGE-button that rang a loud-ass bell and shook the entire goddamn chat-window? Low-quality video chats of 3 frames per second and like 50 pixels worth of visual fidelity? Remember how a while back the servers closed down, and all hope was lost for that early 2000's nostalgia, and all we had now was fond memories and the occasional screencap of something stupid our friends sent back in middle school? Well BOY do I have (old) NEWS FOR YOU! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110384/9701be3c-7847-4c1b-a415-09e65926183b/image.png -> https://escargot.log1p.xyz <- Escargot is a revival project that aims to fully bring back MSN Messenger - of MANY variants. Not just WIndows Live Messenger, but also the older MSN clients. Registering and installing is super easy, and one account works with every client, MSN 3.6 through to WLM 8.5. It's been going on for a while, actually, but it hasn't gotten a lot of recognition - which is kinda sad. It's a bit gimmicky, but it's a fun gimmick. Why are you posting this Fun. Some words from the creators themselves: But why? Why not? MSN Messenger was once the ultimate king of instant messaging and social networking programs, in a time before Facebook, Skype, Discord, or Twitter. But then Microsoft bought Skype in 2012 and thought that owning two seperate chat services was redundant, so MSN was shut down. Which is a shame, 'cause even though it might not have the latest features, it still is a good IM platform. Now several people are working on reverse engineering a server for every major MSN version, and you can chat with people all over the world right now! But how? Escargot is a server software built to recreate the older MSN Messenger architecture, used back when Microsoft still had the service running. Its code works for some versions of MSN, but (as of writing) WLM 2009 and 2011/2012 can't be accessed, since those run on different protocols we have to reverse-engineer. However, all of the code is fully open source and on GitLab, so feel free to contribute! They also implemented some support for Facebook Messenger, Twitter, Spotify and such so the client can be used for those purposes as well. Post your emails down below and we can chat https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110384/e8515891-6fad-4a17-a312-7fb1b1250137/image.png Here's mine: behindthecoyote@gmail.com

whoa
If it wasn't for the browser having tabs I'd think this was just an old ass screenshot.
I tried getting Internet Explorer to work but it shockingly doesn't play nice. Gee, Microsoft, why would people possibly have a distaste towards your browsers?
