They're not exactly helping their stereotype are they?
But... Why are people taking selfies in pink grass?
It's grass, just grass. It's pink grass yea ok its odd, but its just grass.
Then again, I don't understand people's fascination with taking selfies.
In their own country too.
At least we know their standards aren't suddenly dropping when they go abroad.
why are they like this
I've done a bit of reading on that actually.
Your average Chinese citizen is really embarrassed about how they are being viewed due to the actions of these people around the world, the Government is also making an effort to crack down on them and raise awareness.
Basically, in the poorer (particularly urban) parts of China, there has been little social culture other than immediate self preservation that we can find in most countries around the world. Pretty much every country has codes of ethics when it comes to dealing with your fellow neighbour both in your own country and abroad but many places in China have essentially been without this for quite some time, favoring strict self preservation and self care.
Well, due to the boom in China's economy in recent decades, all of those poorer people now have quite a bit of money and are travelling. The education systems are still lacking and these values haven't been implemented in their regions (which generally has to happen socially). So basically you've got people who had to be selfish and arrogant just to survive, suddenly quite rich and able to move more freely.
The selfie thing is pretty universal for people, you can blame reality tv and the music industry for that.
cultural revolution
