Since I already had Nitro before the patch, I have access to these games till 2021, which is nice!
At least they are so nice and let people hide the whole thing or at least its still covered by the same option. I had the first game tab hidden because I don't want discord for that and neither do I want the new store. Not a fan at all about more store apps, I like my library as one and not split between 5 apps.
ngl I like their little embarrassing update videos but I'll stick to Steam for now, no reason to change, really, unless going Nitro
i'd be even happier if they officially allowed us to customize our discord applications' appearances already or at least make the server list smaller i feel incredibly uncomfortable when having to scroll through servers on discord for some reason
Going through their store I think it is a little cluttered and presents information a lot slower than steam. I do like the hover-cursor-to-play-video and snippets.
Bad news, it's isn't DRM free. But hey, the fact it give you 50 games to play make it worth the 10$ !
Or let you create tabs to hide servers under or something. There's no need for me to ever look at the 30 emoji servers im in
I'm quite impressed at how much i'm getting with my Nitro, and they gave me access till 2020, which is pretty great.
I use discord anyway, so I don't mind having another app for games.
Its nice they actually picked some pretty great little indie games with a sprinkle of AAA games here and there. Gives a nice taste of variety for only a ten buck risk
I think I'll probably take advantage of the free games I'll be getting until 2020 at the very least. It definitely won't be my main storefront though. Still, Discord needs a sort of redesign now in terms of its UI. I don't like having 4 pinned sections before getting to my list of DMs. Throw some of that shit into top sections or tabs.
I remember the teamspeak days like 2 years ago
I love how they're like GAMES WITH NITRO and then they raise the price of nitro -_-
TeamSpeak is still better for any serious voice use, especially with a lot of people. It also still has a ton of features discord lacks, like simple offline/LAN support, which I make good use of with my roommates. (Especially when internet goes down for some reason.) I don't mind that it hasn't the whole IRC chatroom clone thing, TS3 does what I want it to do and I have full control over my servers.
And the fact it's bundled into the humble monthly means there's games you get to keep each month. Destiny 2 was a surprise
no they didn't, scroll down to get nitro classic for half the price.
I know. I've had it for 2 years now. It's still shitty
What is? It's the same price it ever was for me over here.
Its the same, its literally right there, they offer an advanced package for more but keep the old one.
Up until the tenth of october, any plans of a secondary premium package just didn't exist publicly. It's fair enough for someone to be confused when information is held back until so late. Word in the original article like https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1755/609500f3-2862-4bd1-8cf8-60eb01cdfbf2/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1755/39a88f2c-49ea-4eaa-a87e-01a6c5e1478b/image.png without any form of clarification that it's actually going to be a completely new thing, just don't sit very well A lot of people thought that the games package will still remain a mere $5 a month. But the article from like a week ago clarifies that this would only contain the shitty chat features
I don't really care for it because the store doesn't offer anything new, and the "First on discord" is an anti-consumer way to try and get people to use your store. If i want DRM free games I have GoG, if I want a general game selection there's steam, and then there's each company's own launcher. Universal library is a joke, they make it seem like they've solved the "too many launchers" problem but they actually just another step in doing the same exact thing you always did before. I've never had a problem remembering what launcher my game was on, maybe others do, but the feature doesn't solve any problems for me. I like competing services, but discord store doesnt offer anything unique from a consumer perspective aside from "discord first" games, which are not good for me, a consumer, as that's not competition- when you dont have a choice, you dont have to compete.
Apparently there's a change in the Discord TOS that says you can no longer sue Discord or congregate as a class action lawsuit. You have 30 days to opt out: https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/9p5uyp/latest_tos_update_revokes_your_right_to_sue/
Doesn't apply to me since I'm in Europe, but I still opted out as a matter of principle.
It must be weird living in the US where your only rights are alt

Humble bundle monthly gives you 50 games catalogue a month drm free and then 7 or so games monthly. Nitro is unneeded. Discord is ruined the small community environment in gaming.
All I could think of when I saw this was "Another fucking internet game store?".
steam has desktop shortcuts and you can add nonsteam games to it, so ill just use that as my "all in one launcher" thanks
