This was previously rumored a few weeks back, but seemingly disputed by Cavill at the time. Nevertheless, an update has come out - WB is legitimately recasting Batman and Superman after all. https://uproxx.com/hitfix/ben-affleck-henry-cavill-done-with-batman-superman The most recent news about the restructuring of the DCEU after Justice League earned less than expected came late Monday afternoon, when Variety reported a delay in the Flash’s standalone movie. Buried among the news about The Flash was a confirmation of what has long been rumored: Warner no longer requires the services of Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill as Batman and Superman. "The studio is not moving forward with Batman and Superman movies featuring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, respectively. It is expected to recast the Dark Knight with a different actor."
good. these movies are a fucking mess. i tried watching justice league with the RLM commentary running and it was abhorrent how fucking bad it was. the commentary track is infinitely more fun just listening to it than suffering through the movie as well.
Lol get fucked dc
Poor poor Affleck, who spent his entire life wanting to play Batman, and then ended up playing Batman in s ome of the worst movies of the decade.
Cavill's gotta grow the Geralt beard, can't play superman like that.
Actually pretty sad to see Affleck go, he made a pretty great bruce wayne imo, his smirk was on point. Wish he could have had better writers.
wait how do you do that?
Play the RLM commentary audio file separately while having the movie pulled up at the same time.
it's not the fucking cast that ruined it, it was the filmmakers and writers.
I totally agree. I wasn't a fan of Cavill as Superman, but I really liked Affleck's interpretation of Batman. Cavill's a great actor, but his rendition of Clark Kent as well as Superman just didn't do it for me.
ahhh thought it was a commentary track for the movie itself or something fancy might just do this, sounds fun
Shame. They were fine in the roles, but it sucks that they had to get saddled with some hacks behind the camera who just wanted to ape Marvel.
Figures that Wonder Woman is the only really good DC cinematic universe movie... Gal Gadot is wonderful
I enjoyed afleck as Batman, was hoping he'd get his own movie before a bunch of DC movies execs smeared their feces on some rolls of film and showed them in theatres and ruined Batman for a decade
Here's how you can save the DCEU, (well salvage more like), all the heroes except for flash have been killed, by I don't know, lets say Darkseid, have flash go back in time using his speed magic to like the early 2000's or something. He tries to get the league together to save the world before its too late. All the characters would be younger so new cast, batman is not yet a cynical amoral asshole, superman is introduced to the world for the first time and doesn't kill Zod, and Wonder Woman, the only decent DC film, is the only movie that hasn't been erased. Then you can have a much more optimistic brighter Justice league while still keeping the actors Gal Godot and the guy who plays the flash. Or we can all just go back to watching the fantastic animated justice league TV series from the late 90's and call it a day.
Would have liked to see more Affleck/Irons interaction, I'm a sucker for the Bruce/Alfred dynamic. Oh well, the films were not loved by most everyone, myself included, so it was a given when WB is trying really hard to chart a new course for these films.
I'm not big into comic books, super-heroes or the whole Marvel v DC thing, but why didn't WB roll with Nolan's batman trilogy and use that as a basis for the "DCCCU"? Is it cause both Bale and Nolan moved on to other shit? Or was the Man of Steel and everything that followed an "oh shit look at the success of Marvel we gotta change things up (to be the same as our competitor)"?
Imagine what the CGI for that would look like.
They both deserved better
Real fucking shame. They played their characters pretty well, they just deserved to have a better script and director to work with.
To look at maybe. Can't say her acting is particularly inspiring.
Nolan served as a producer on Man of Steel, but it was really in the hands of the writers and Snyder that cocked it all up.
damn sorry to hear that

IMO Nolan's Bat-verse is overrated. I disliked Bale as Batman (that voice was so unnecessary), and how they adapted a lot of the characters. Catwoman, felt off, Talia was weird, and Bane didn't feel like Bane. Ledger boosted it all into huge success with his performance, but I didn't like the trilogy as much as everyone else does.
I agree to an extent, but I had no issue watching Justice League with the RLM commentary. The film is basically bootleg avengers. It does everything worse and ultimately comes off as generic and borning more than anything. It's not halfway as appalling as Batman V Superman, which dragged ever single classic DC character it featured through the fucking mud, with the exception of Wonder Woman. Superman staring into the distance sadly as a courtroom full of people blows up around him has to be one the top ten worst moments in any comic book film ever made. Absolutely disgusting what Snyder did to his character, and it's such a shame Cavill never actually got the chance to play Superman -apart from in a few snippets of Justice League reshoot footage with a horrible CGI shave.
