This is some really sad shit. Apparently he had taken out loans to pay for treatment for his three year old daughter who had epilepsy and couldn't get out of debt. His insurance was to be paid to his wife, so he didn't even do it for himself.
Not trying to excuse how he bailed on his family, but no one should go into debt paying for their child's illness.

This poor family are just more victims caused by capitalism.
The UK is capitalist and treatment for epilepsy is free at the point of delivery on the NHS here. They aren't victims of capitalism - they're victims of a US-style 'health' service.
It's an annoying trend that people think capitalism is inherently corrupt and greedy
Particularly when they don't suggest a system that can't also become corrupted by greed

I don't think they were too off base in calling them victims of capitalism, in a pure capitalist society (which hasn't been completely done before) all services would be privatized like this. They are certainly victims of allowing too much capitalism in a service it shouldn't be in at all.
