Damn, didn't realize Peter Capaldi's did rather poorly. He was by far my favorite regeneration.
Shame he was stuck with Steven Moffat.
Personally I'm a Tom Baker lover myself, but to each their own.
Well deserved, I am loving the new season and it seems the critics are too.
Seen a fair bit of negativity about the change of pace, writing, acting so on, but I've found it a lot better than Moffat.
In fact, reminds me a lot of Classic Who which is fantastic.
It also didn't help that a lot of people where angry that the new doctor wasn't "as hot as matt smith".
Capaldi's run started to get better in the last few episodes, and I loved everything between him and Missy, but after having to bear through so much of Moffat's shitty writing it was too little too late.
I'm really enjoying the classic yet modern feel of Jodie so far, right down to the style and music of the opening.
Chibnill, or whatever, wrote Broadchurch, so he's clearly a good writer. I'm just concerned that it might end like Broadchurch as well, where there's almost no set-up and the murderer turned out to be some dude who hadn't even been questioned.
I think Tennant and Capaldi will always be "my" Doctors, but Jodie Whittaker has been fantastic so far and if they keep this up she'll definitely go down as one of the best Doctors the show has had. I really didn't like the previews (and I like the new TARDIS even less) but Chibnall really surprised me.
He also wrote 42 and the Power of Three
I really don't think it's possible to be uglier than Matt Smith.
Eccleston would like a word boyo
You should see me. I'm worse. Matt Smith is my favourite Doctor Who though, as he was just off-the-walls crazy, especially in the first episode.
I've just been watching it again because Moffat is gone honestly
Eccleston has a certain charm though.
Eccleston was pretty fantastic.
I thought he was absolutely fantastic, although Tennant will always be my personal favourite
That's actually quite surprising to me, I would've expected Tennant to be higher.
Tennant remains my favorite. Eccelston was cool and had he been given more time could have been interesting. Matt Smith I liked alone and I like him as an actor, but I couldn't even watch his last series because I was just so fucking done with the awful writing. Capaldi was really good, close to Tennant even, but I still couldn't watch in mass because fuck Moffet.
I imagine your church mates would have been slightly perturbed by you doing that as well, so it's probably for the best.
Whatever you do, don't look up the viewing figures for his run on Doctor Who, his first season had fine enough viewing figures, respectable, his second series though... Oh god... even with the 'final' viewing figures are shocking. I feel that the rumours he was looking to leave after that second series had a little more weight to them after reading them. Sure his final series picked up, and had it not broadcast during the summer it might have done better but, he really did get royally fucked over.
Keep in mind this is for the first episode. Tennat hadn't become the icon he is now yet.
I haven't watched Doctor Who in ages. In fact, I think the last good Doctor Who was during Eccleston's time. After that, it really just tried to be ~~random XDD~ and cater to children, but in a bad way.
If it isn't like that anymore, it might be worth watching again.
I'd say some of Smith's and Capaldi's episodes took a darker turn away from the "lol random adventure!" plot. It's just a pity when the episodes moved away from the more kid friendly (and got better in my opinion) - they moved onto a new Doctor and went back to learning the ropes again.
He genuinely had the potential to be the best doctor of all, wasted by idiotic writing
I wish Red Dwarf had this sort of staying power.
Tennant and Eccleston are my favourite Doctors as they're both in general quite serious but still capable of a wide variety of emotions, such as Eccelsons "Fantastic!" and "Everybody Lives!" lines being moments of actual meaning because those weren't the norm, or how in "Dalek" he actually sounds upset and regretting what he did during the Time War (until that was retconned....) ) or Tennant when he was crying to Wilf (or when he ended up getting angry with Wilf). Smith and Capaldi did also have some darker more emotional moments but there was something about them that just didn't have the same sort of weight to it.
I haven't gotten to watch it yet, but Moffat actively made me stop watching the show, 13's run early on at least had some of the dumbest episodes for a show I've ever seen, in a show with a very dumb premise. Which is such a shame because I'm such a mark for such things
So what exactly happened? I don't follow Dr.Who a lot so I'm curious.
He's a peculiar looking dude, I guess - but ugly?
