Disappointing that he plans on waiting until after the midterms. Would love to have Mueller ask the president when he'd like the findings of the report released- wait until after the midterms? Why? What are you afraid of? Immediately? Great, people can vote out the politicians that have supported the scumbag. This can't happen soon enough.
it's to avoid bad taste and seeming like an attempt on influencing the outcome of the elections. if the dirt is huge enough, no secured victory will be enough to stop the consequences regardless.
The Republican party will never hold Trump accountable. If they manage to seize / maintain power (and they're cheating as hard as they fucking can to do so), Trump is virtually untouchable. Do you think they rammed Kavanaugh, who famously believes that the President has dictatorial authority to terminate criminal investigations into his own crimes, through to the SCOTUS because they're not planning on fighting Mueller until the bitter end? Do you think they're still attacking the credibility of Mueller, the FBI, and the DOJ on a near-daily basis because they intend to do their constitutional duty and respect the findings? Frankly, Mueller is too fuckin' late, and choosing to wait until after the elections just further demonstrates to me how toothless he really is. He can keep nabbing all the fish swimming around Trump for as long as he wants, but at this point I think he knows that, no matter HOW compelling the evidence he brings to the table is, Trump isn't going anywhere, our democracy has already failed, and the rule of law and accountability of justice is virtually dead for Trump's administration.
Even though Mueller is above playing partisan tricks like that, it's a shame that the GOP don't get a taste of their own medicine after leaking the Hillary email investigation's letter so close to the election.

I wonder what Trump's reaction will be. Will he cave and fire Mueller while he can or will he let this come to pass
What do you mean while he can? I’m fairly certain that if he fired him before he could reach a conclusion that it would be the straw that broke the camels back. Nothing would save him from what comes after that.
GET READY FOR PURE DISAPOINTMENT
more like "shit its true, they caught my soul's foot on camera!" I hope this goes somewhere
A week after election, while definitely more “tasteful”, is a fucking awful idea. Playing fair isn’t going to remove any Republicans from their seats if they’ve already won them. We’ve reached the point in the game that the Red Team already hit their win condition and can now transition comfortably into full on fascism; they don’t care about facts, they can just scream away their problems with 24/7 propaganda and gas lighting. They don’t care about fairness or rules, so why should we? Pull a reverse Hillary emails and fucking deck them.
Quite frankly if the GOP won't budge on any amount of evidence given then releasing it before or after the midterms won't matter - if you're voting GOP this Nov then how's the big bad Muller report going to change that? Better do it after the election - he gets enough shit as it is and maintaining integrity is such a strong point of his investigation. Don't give outlets like FOX the ammo.
This could be misinformation from Rudy and co.
You are forgetting that Mueller is a Republican too. It was foolish from the start to think he'd be the one to bring the GOP down.
This is probably the case, unless this information came directly from Mueller or his spokesperson.
Mueller has an exemplary record and had his tenure as FBI director extended by Obama.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the main objective for the investigation isn't to "remove republicans from their seats".
what the hell is with this ultra-binary thinking? maybe if you just allowed him to do the job he was hired for instead of lionizing the guy you wouldn't be so fucking disappointed. just because he's neither a Democrat nor John fucking Rambo doesn't mean the former director of the FBI has spent the last year "pushing paper" and scheming to betray the American people.
Ryan Paul "Remember, this is how we know we're a family. Nothing gets out". Yeah, corruption at the highest levels of office that worked in concerted efforts to fuck with american democracy, both with external foreign powers and internal agents hostile to american democracy(see the history of Republican gerrymandering, as well as voter suppression attempts in every republican run state at the moment) is clearly something an internal counter corruption probe should ignore.
I fear for the state of America post-probe if this election period doesn't take these fascists out of their seats. Every single of-age American has his and her duty to do the right thing on November 6th. We're not just fighting for c8vil liberties here, any more prolonged Republican influence in government will hasten the state of our planets decay. Climate change is here and our species is at risk more than ever. Do the right thing in two weeks people, this may be the only shot we have to literally survive.
Why do people think him releasing his findings before the election would be a detriment to the GOP? They can use it as a rally cry to go, "We have definitive proof that the Democrats and FBI want to sabotage the government and manipulate the election!" It is very dangerous to think this could only hurt the GOPs chances in the midterms. That is a very risky gamble to be making as it very well could backfire.
Here's a good hypothetical: would you accept the report if Mueller found nothing? Or is the report an acknowledgement of your bias?
I don't think that's a good hypothetical. It may be unintentional but it's a bit of a loaded question in this context since there's so much public information about all the shady shit Trump has done as it is. Under that context and taking into account all the stuff that Mueller has already publicly done, the probe inexplicably coming out with nothing to show would only look incredibly shady at best.
I don't know when I gave up hope that Trump wouldn't last a full term, but it was a long time ago. At this point I'm trying to hope that he doesn't last two terms, and that depends a lot on what Americans do next month.
The BEST of Congressional Republicans are spineless, and you can't break the back of an invertibrate. The rest just don't give enough of a shit about justice, responsibility, and accountability to shoulder that load to begin with. Kavanaugh's confirmation was also the latest confirmation that the GOP has abdicated any and all sense of constitutional duty.
hahaha i really hope the canadian armed forces accept my application hahaha
No, because what's already known publicly eliminates all reasonable doubt that Trump has committed a litany of serious crimes against our nation. For Mueller to state he found "nothing" would fly in the face of established fact. Mueller may not be able to establish guilt in EVERY crime Trump is suspected of, but even the Watergate prosecutors have stated in no uncertain terms that they believe there's MORE than enough in just the public sphere to take Trump to criminal court.

Honestly, it's that kind of attitude toward people of different political ideas that make this country as polarized as it is. Look at people beyond their political party and maybe we wouldn't all fucking hate each other.
" NYT got a few Trump tax records and found *hundreds of millions* in fraud—Mueller has *all* those docs." never thought of it that way tbh
