The recording is also understood to include audio of Saudi military forensics official Salah Muhammad al-Tubaigy putting on headphones to listen to music as he begins to dismember the body and encourages other people in the room to do the same
According to Middle East Eye, Khashoggi was dragged from the office to Mr al-Otaibi’s study next door, where Mr al-Tubaigy began cutting up his body on a table while he was still alive.
It's not enough to kill for political means, you just have to go the extra mile and be a fucking psychopath while you do it
I swear, it's like some people are trying to out-do Hollywood in the cartoonishly evil department. Only thing this guy could have done to be more stereotypically evil would be to twirl his mustache and eat a kitten while dismembering the guy.
Saudi Arabia is a shithole
While they are sick, it was most likely done to transport the body out of the building discreetly.
Oh, well that makes it okay then.
Dude I think he's referring to the guy putting on Ahmed's Greatest Murder Mixtape before chopping up some dude while he's drugged up and alive.
Give me reasons that we shouldn't be breaking off any and all relationships we have with Saudi Arabia and sending the U.S. military in the region to forcibly remove the regime there from power.
And not some ideological, non-intervention shit, but actual reasons this kind of shit doesn't elicit a significant response.
US-Saudi Arabia seal weapons deal worth nearly $110 billion as T..
A giant fucking sack of money.
Even worse, it's a sack of money that gets bigger every decade and comes with even more laughable abuses of humanitarian ideals, including Saudi Arabia's appointment to Chair of the U.N. Human Rights Council.
It's a bipartisan, multinational sack of money too, so don't expect 'the other guys' to fix it, since pretty much every administration has been beyond cozy with the House of Saud.
we don't do that because creating a power vacuum in a violent, highly sectarian region is a recipe for disaster that's been done multiple times and caused horrific suffering every time
as for why we don't respond diplomatically it's because we have knob slobbering fucktoy in office and he's too busy polishing the Saudi King's pole in exchange for bus fair to do anything
Yeah, and it makes me sick. We've got our heads so far up our asses trying to make money off of suffering that we've lost any pretense of ethics we had.
I do agree that power vacuums are a bitch and a half to consider or deal with but I think it's safe to say that if the Saudi govt. gets away with this while still retaining our support it's sickening.
At this point the Iranians and Saudis are equally shit, just one happens to prefer trying to get us to help them rather than openly opposing us.
That is disgusting beyond all words or reason.
I'm really hoping Canada continues to have a complete meltdown of relations with Saudi Arabia, I hope we wind up full US-Cuba and ban all transportion and trade with them, and remove all of their political representatives for security, since apparently their embassies can't be trusted.
In reality, of course our government is going to bend over backwards trying to mend relations. It'd just be really nice if our pussy government actually put their foot down for once and drew a line in the sand, we shouldn't have to play sycophant to a country that makes feminist activists "disappear," or cuts people up alive in their own embassies.
So long as we keep Trudeau or the NDP in office, I don't see the course changing. Our oil already took a devastating hit thanks to the Saudi's a few years back, so we really don't have anything more to lose by cutting relations with them(to my knowledge). We aren't the US, and as such don't care about the geopolitical value of maintaining Saudi Arabia as an ally, and it's not like they can really hurt our oil even more(without hurting other nations far more).
I've been mostly content with Trudeau's tenure as Prime Minister, but his tough stance on the US(in regards to the NAFTA renegotiation) and Saudi Arabia have quite possibly been my favourite aspects of his time as PM so far.
You would think that the Saudis will be smarter to check for bugs before and after this thing.
they fuck it up so badly
I haven't been a huge fan of Trudeau, but I wouldn't say he hasn't done a bad job, either. I didn't vote for him anyways so my expectations were technically exceeded. I will look positively on him if he manages to burn down all of our bridges with the Saudis.
I see a lot of people moaning about him though, I feel we're entering an age of regressive, delusional anti-liberalism, where people will openly mock "liberals" for "virtue signalling," such as standing up to state-sponsored murder or basic human rights. Really basic notions of human dignity are now what reactionaries would see as being a bargaining chip for their political camp. It's actually scary to see Trump doing mental gymnastics to squirm his way around recognizing or acknowledging what obviously happened here, and I'm sure our enlightened conservative countrymen who frequently espouse the virtues of "western civilization" will fall eerily silent on this murder and the general state of our Saudi relations, if it means that they can continue criticizing Trudeau for... something.
they probably dont give a shit
This.
Who needs to worry about such things when you have giant piles of money and hold half the world by the balls in oil reserves.
Until the western world can wean itself off the oil from the Saudis they know that any sanctions we put will only hurt us while they continue to profit from oil sales to Asia. The only way to break the Saudis balls would to outproduce them in regards to oil and drive the price of oil down to nothing, or hope that their reserves dry up.
Could also reduce our reliance on fossil fuels as a whole, would make it easier to be self-sufficient in that regard.
When I'm ill, the doctors tend to remove my limbs and torso too. It's standard operating procedure before they reassemble you and get you better.
If that's the case they could had hired an assassin and shot him in the middle of the street.
When he gets caught, just deny responsibility.
I don't see why they need to go to such lengths for a murder and have it fuck up
Saudi suspect in Khashoggi case ‘dies in car accident’
nice
Because Saudi Arabia is Shit
trump said it himself in his response to this: the military industrial complex is much more important than anything else.
Trump is facing a real dilemma here. On the one hand, a US citizen was dismembered by a foreign state. On the other hand, he wrote for the Washington post
No dilemma. Money and dead journalists. Win-win for him.
they have every western country by the balls, they simply do not need to try
He definitely hasn't been perfect, but I'd say he's been a much needed breath of fresh air despite his relatively small number of missteps(such as no electoral reform). Considering that he didn't abuse his majority government at all, whereas Harper tore shit up with his, I can forgive his lack of electoral reform since it seems it wasn't done out of selfishness.
