First legal weed sold in Canada at Newfoundland shops | CBC News Ian Power said he came early so he could "make history." "It's been my dream to be the first person to buy the first legal gram of cannabis in Canada, and here I finally am," Power said. "I'm elated. I'm so excited, I can't stop smiling. I'm not cold. It's freezing cold out, but I'm not cold. I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet
The lines for them are nuts, as expected. https://twitter.com/LittleVMills/status/1052651043400626176
BC, the "Premier" Pot Smoking destination in Canada, has one store open today. And it's in Kamloops. Basically 5 hours away from the majority of the people who live here. Guess how badly it's going here
We've got one of the dispensaries in my town (They added them to existing liquor stores here, not sure about other provinces) I haven't had a chance to swing by yet, waiting a few days for the crowds to die down
I'm still working on this post so some info may be incorrect, namely the stuff about online stores. Is it a crime to go to Canada on a holiday, buy about a kilo of weed and pack it normally in your luggage, and go back to Finland? Would I be stopped either at the Canadian airport or back in Finland? Plus, would I be charged with anything? Would there be a chance that it all just works itself out?
Actually fine since none of the existing dispensaries are getting any police pressure to shut down here in Victoria and in Vancouver despite having to technically shut down. And also you can just buy it online which is how everyone I know did.
I believe that'd considered smuggling in worst case scenario, or they'll confiscate it in best case scenario. It's still illegal I assume in Finland so their rules apply when you're there. The only loop hole that I know of which works here in Norway is that you can travel to a country that has legalized it, get a doctor, then have weed prescribed to you for medical use. If you pull that off here in Norway, you're legally allowed to bring back a months supply at the time. You still have to go back to the country you got the prescription to refill though.
I would suspect that you'd get stopped by Finnish customs. I don't think Canadian customs would stop you from flying out with it, but Finnish customs would certainly stop you from coming in with it, assuming it's not legal in Finland. I'm not a laywer, though; nor do I have any experience with smuggling contraband internationally. So don't take my word for it.
The online store for Québec is here if you want to add it: https://www.sqdc.ca Also, here's an article you can add regarding the Canadian Military: Canadian military to severely curtail use of recreational mariju..
If it's not legal in Finland you'll definitely get it taken away when you go through Customs. Whether they arrest/detain you or whatever I have no idea. But you're not gonna have the weed so don't even bother.
It's still a crime to leave Canada with cannabis on you, so yes, the Canadians would stop him.
Governments hate this weird trick!
It's only a crime if you get caught.
British Columbia will have government stores and private ones once they get licenced, like howour liquor stores are.
Do you mind if I add this to the OP?
Well there you go then, Techno! Seems like a definite answer here.
Thanks, I updated my post. Go for it.
prices aren't terrible according to the online store, pre-tax it looks pretty similar to what I usually get from dispensaries here in LA. One more reason Montreal is the promised land.
It's really surreal going on a government run website and seeing product names like "Lemon Skunk" and "Quantum Kush".
Nova Scotian here. I got mine, but I was there a half hour early and still had to wait 20 minutes after it opened. The lineup double by the time I got through the doors and it had tripled by the time I left. In Lower Sackville the line is still out the door and around the fucking corner. It's been ten hours. At least it's good weed.
There's MK Ultra on the Quebec site. https://www.sqdc.ca/en-CA/p-mk-ultra/629108034061-P/629108034061
Ontario will have private stores by April 2019.
My dispensary isn't licensed yet, but is working towards it (AFAIK, I didn't ask too many questions). All that changed between yesterday and today is that they were closed for a bit this morning while they took all the products not legal to sell yet (edibles, concentrates, etc.) away from display so that they're only carrying and advertising legal weed. However, here's the odd thing. The RCMP seems to have told them to also not sell pre-rolled joints, which as I understand it is a perfectly legal thing to do now. The only thing I can think of is it's the local RCMP flexing their muscle on what is technically an illegal operation. I totally went into my dispensary yesterday and bought as many medicated chocolate bars as I could afford while they were still "grey area" illegal and not "absolutely illegal for another year and the cops will definitely bust for" illegal.
i may not be understanding you right but a dispensary selling illegal shit was open?
BC was a little different to the rest of Canada and their dispensary's existed in kind of a grey area or something. So it has been kinda-sorta-maybe legal, at least on the provincial level, in BC for years afik. Someone from BC can explain it way better.
We have medical dispensaries everywhere but it’s quite easy to get a “green card” to buy from them.
Same deal in Ottawa, ON and also in a lot of other places around Canada too (I think). There's been this gray area that's been taking root since Justin Trudeau got in to office (and even sooner in other places too) because Justin Trudeau's platform was to legalize it. It's a situation of "yes it's illegal", but nobody really cares... Just don't flaunt it is all. For the most part as long as you don't make any problems with the police or other people then they'll leave you alone.
Essentially how california is currently.
What you really want is a country inside EU to legalize it. That way you can fly back home and literally just walk out the door at the airport without any checks. If Estonia legalized it, it would both be cheap, and you could take a ferry instead, which is less of a hassle.
