Hi all. So basically about a month ago, I got a 1tb hard drive (white elements) and a 32gb usb stick (sandisk) (both USB 3.0) that I intended to use for college. My computer's about 10 years old, not really professional or anything (an eMachines with about 300gb, not really built for anything beyond basic uses). Anyway, when I plug them in, my computer brings up the standard 'installing device drivers' message, only to tell me it can't find any. I look around for a bit to see if they're available on the sites, but to no avail. The weird thing being, they worked on the macs at College, and also pretty much everything else - other computers also running either a version of mac or windows, my wii/wii u and xbox all had no trouble reading it. I got a back-up android phone recently and surprise, when I try to connect that to the computer with the standard android micro-usb charger, it also tells me it can't find any drivers, and surprise, it also proceeds to work completely fine on literally everything else. I don't have any system restore points from before this month I can back-up to, and it's the same with all 4 usb ports on my computer. Does anyone have any idea on how I could fix this?
I followed all the steps, but the box was already ticked when I opened the window... Thank you for the help anyway.
Tried steps 1,2, and 5, and none of them seem to have worked. Step 3 wouldn't work because it kept saying I didn't have privileges or SP1 installed, even though this is the only user on the PC (and is the admin) and SP1 shows up in computer > properties.
