Hellgate Hellgate: London is back on Steam. Developer T3 Entertainment and publisher HanbitSoft Inc. are responsible for the return of the infamous dark fantasy action role-playing game, which first launched in 2007 but died a couple of years later after struggling to make money. It's due out on Steam on 15th November 2018. Korean company HanbitSoft bought Hellgate: London from original developer Flagship Studios back in 2010 and relaunched it as a free-to-play game in 2011. Then, in 2014, Hellgate returned as a Steam Greenlight pitch as Hellgate Global, which includes a Tokyo expansion. But this didn't end up going anywhere on these shores. Now, four years later, it looks like HanbitSoft is having another stab at making Hellgate: London relevant again, with version 2.0 of Hellgate: Tokyo back from the dead.
honestly i kinda liked the game when i played it ages ago
It was definitely rough but still pretty fun.
I remember playing this and Tabula Rasa a bit at the same time when they launched. My parents loved both of them and still remember Tabula Rasa as their favorite MMO. It's weird.
Oh! I was just thinking about this a week or two ago. I remember when this game came out originally and it got panned by critics and I played it to death never understanding why. This is such good news to me.
A great game for Mandalore Gaming to review!
It's single player only? Ok. But what about spying part mentione in some old review... Still gonna try it for some nostalgia tease...
All I know about this game is that they released official nudie pics of a character that wasn't even in the game.
I unironically loved this game.
I actually had a strange fondness of this game and I left the game on a note where I wanted to pick it up again someday and see what it was like. Never thought I’d get the chance again honestly. This game just has a weird mix of elements
I have fond memories of this game, every few years I'd get the old disc out just to play it for a bit, loved the aesthetic that no game has ever gotten close to matching. Also its always a bit eerie, the subway stations had these old clan posters on the walls advertising for new members, and they are still there despite the game and the clans being long dead. Its like a episode of the dead mall series.
It wasn't really ever dead though? It could be fully played in singleplayer offline. I played it for a bit like a year or so ago.
You wat
Wonder if it supposedly being single player only now means the second half of the game isn't locked behind a paywall "to keep bots out". To explain: when this was initially revived as a f2p mmo, you had to pay $10 to go further than act two. Their reasoning for this was as I said "to keep bots away". That reason was kind of useless seeing as it was possible to buy the pass and sell it in game via the auction house rather than use it yourself. This pre-dated f2p games locking anything economy based behind premium membership, meaning bot accounts could and did just buy it for in game money.
I don't think I'd play it if it came back. I'd definitely play a sequal though.
HG:L was pretty flawed, but I loved the weapon and armor design.

One of the few games that worked on my computer long ago. I really liked it.
More games should support Windows 9 these days. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109700/026e9772-b341-4a89-b1d9-8a26740a20e4/Capture.PNG
I might be the only one who read them but the novels were actually pretty great.
I really, really enjoyed Hellgate: London back in the day despite it's flaws.
boy was i excited for when this came out.
Impossible. 7 ate 9.
I remember trying to play tabula rasa and having to stand inside a cave near the starting area and facing a wall to get my FPS into the double digits. They were dark times.
Hellgate London was my fuckin' jam back in the day and I was just thinking about it not too long ago.
Fuck yeah dude, i adored HG:L, i'mma be playing the shit outta this
"died a few years later"? Thats a better track record than some AAA titles these days which have their MP die in a matter of weeks
Fuck now I have to look for my box and disc now. Mine even came with a cloth patch which was pretty cool. Never finished it though, glad they're rebooting it
it's because London has become like what the original Hellgate London game was like, so now it will attract more attention and sales
Never played it, so I've got a question: Worth getting it now?
