Anti vaxxing is a really bizarre phenomenon that could almost be viewed as an expression of post industrialism except in a very negative way. It feels like a distinct situation where people reject an element of modern society and pseudo return to their past except that in this case it's not a very nice part of our past.
I would consider 37 very low when you look at totals... but when you look at the actual context of all of this
Polio, hundreds of thousands of cases to virtually zero. There is only one known person alive today in an iron lung.

Measles, peaking at 750,000 to nothing
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measles
In 1980, 2.6 million people died of it,[6] and in 1990, 545,000 died; by 2014, global vaccination programs had reduced the number of deaths from measles to 73,000.[8][13]

Ok, so vaccines cause these illnesses to be spiked into the mud hard, virtually eliminating them.
In the first six months of 2018, there were 41,000 recorded cases of the easily preventable viral infection. That six-month period saw nearly double the highest number of cases in a year since 2010 - which was 23,927 in the entire 12 months of 2017
37 deaths for a disease that doesn't exist any more in these countries. This straight up should be impossible yet its happening. That's actually a VERY high number.
Anti-Vaxx should be considered child endangerment. I would be totally in favor of it being grounds for Child Protective Services to take the kid away. At least to get vaccinated. It should be mandatory. These people should be publically shamed. If someone dies from a vaccine preventable disease and it can be traced back to your shit parenting you should be charged with manslaughter.
I'd rather be dead than autistic.
Oh wait actually I got that backwards haha. I'm already autistic.
Medical exemptions are totally valid (and require a doctor to sign off), but they really need to remove the clause that allows non-vaccinations for "religious, philosophical, and moral" reasons. Sorry, but those rights end when they endanger the health of human beings that do not share those beliefs, especially those that can't vaccinate for entirely legitimate reasons.
I don't get why this shit gets a pass.
Refusing vaccination for non-medical reasons (like allergy to the vaccination) should result in enforced house arrest quarantine during any infectious outbreak. Are there measles cases in the community and your kids aren't vaccinated for measles? Then you are all excommunicated from proximity contact with the rest of the community for the duration of the outbreak. Being locked up at home for two or three weeks makes it difficult to go to school or jobs? OOPS, OH WELL, THERE'S AN INFECTIOUS ILLNESS GOING AROUND AND WE ALL HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR DECISIONS.
If you're going to threaten herd immunity then you should be temporarily removed from the herd in the event of infection threatening the herd.
I'm on the spectrum too. And I'll say this: anyone who thinks kids with autism are truly that terrible doesn't deserve to be raising them anyway. I'm not saying it's easy to raise a kid on the autism spectrum (particular if they're low functioning), but if you seriously would rather have your kids die than become autistic, you're a fucking asshole.
Oh sorry, it was a bad joke on how I'm vaccinated and therefore autistic (and not dead). I don't think I'm actually autistic, or if I am I haven't been diagnosed by a professional.
I share your opinion of people who prefer death over autism though.
Death is far more preferable than being a vegetable low functioning autist, that actually sounds awful and I'd rather be dead than live an unmeaningful life in a shell of a human being who's a burden to everyone.
Please tell me you're joking
So thats where autism started... :downs:
autism isnt being comatose my dude.
plus this whole argument of "better autistic than dead" is stupid since
vaccines
dont
give
you
autism.
thanks asshole
I don't know, you seem to have gotten there all by yourself without the help of autism
Vaccines causing autism is about as batshit as chemtrails. You'd think it'd be a severe felony EVERYWHERE not to vaccinate your children, but here we are with diseases that were just about eradicated making a comeback. Who gives a shit about science and medicine, those are made up government words to control you while they turn your children autistic. Only proper way to treat a disease is leeches. Maybe an exorcism.
Having autism isn't the same as being a vegetable/being in a coma, and there's people that despite the issues they face, can lead relatively normal lives.
If you really believe that, you are already a burden to society by causing deaths. Also, fucking VACCINES DONT CAUSE FUCKING AUTISM. THERE IS SO GOD DAMN MUCH PROOF THAT SHOWS THAT.
Are you only pretending to be retarded
Have you been around those really, really low functioning types? They're absolutely unbearable. They can barely speak or form words. People need to realize there's quite a distinction, pretty much everyone on this forum who has autism is high functioning since they can bare minimum use a computer and form coherent thoughts. If you have autism and felt targeted then sorry but it kinda wasin't directed at you
Also I'm not anti-vax btw
You are fucking insane if you actually believe this is true.
What is your purpose then? Are you just trying to shit on the autistic?
Because that would make you quite the asshole.
Mostly just the whole argument of "autism isn't that bad" when it can be that fucking bad, and that's what most people are afraid of or picturing when they think of "vaccine autism".
Most people are using shit logic then, because you can apply that to any human activity or state of being.
Life itself is generally good with a few cases of bad.
Alright look I'm an autist myself and I was just mega-projecting some shitty irrational fear I have of becoming one of those types that can barely communicate. I guess I was annoyed at how the conversation was going and I made a giant asshole and embarrassment of myself.
Man two of my best friends are autistic, and I wouldn't even have known it if they hadn't told me. There's no need to stress yourself out over that stuff.
Skip the needles, die of measles.
I feel that even discussing the idea of low-functioning autist children being difficult to handle is giving too much credence to the anti-vaxxers.
There's no point in discussing the ramifications of something FICTIONAL.
I'm more aware of how difficult it is than you might think, even as someone who is high-functioning. Because I didn't always deserve that label. I wasn't as bad as someone who is diagnosed as low-functioning, but my parents had a hell of a time with me all the way through highschool. However, they never once acted like they would have rather had a kid with an almost-certainly fatal illness than me - in fact the biggest thing that got them through it all (and ultimately saved me) was that they never gave up hope. I understand that for some people it just isn't possible to do this, especially if they're going to have to do it all their life. But I still do not understand how anyone would prefer that their kid just dies instead. As much as I know how hard parents of low-functioning autistic kids have it, I have read so many stories about how they still manage to find moments of joy with their kid. But if your kid fucking dies at a young age from an easily preventable illness, it's nothing but tears from that point onward. So, no I don't understand why any decent would prefer that, let alone be willing to intentionally put their kids at risk by refusing to vaccinate them.
