Tragedy of Loremaster(A.K.A Loremaster Appreciation Thread)

Remember when I was working on some platformer game project? Me neither. For shame. I was making progress. A bit slow at a times, but still, progress. Until I hit the biggest brick wall in from of some gimmicky bonus that gives you super-speed and Sonic-like movement. It's six months since I started the project. Around four months before this day I had encountered said wall, and was asking fellow GameMaker professionals for help. But nobody could give me a solution. I also tried to solve this problem myself. But due to having little skill in advanced coding, I couldn't do it right.
I'm not going to ask you for help, since Facepunch in particular doesn't have any GameMaker professionals(or does it?). The only point of this thread is so I could tell you my tragedy of my enthusiasm ruined by a major flaw. And what better way to explain my failings than to go memelord and tell my trying in a fancy meme format?:

Yes, I am not that good in the Art department either. I am particularly lacking in skill, and also will to invest tons of hours into my Art and improve myself. But my games is the main topic here. Yes, I could give up this project and start working on something else... But I gave a vow to myself. A vow to have that one platformer released. And if my Game Development History doesn't start with that platformer, then it doesn't start at all!
I may return to my project once more, and eventually figure it out, but I'd rather have my fingers crossed on it. As of now, all you can do is rate "Sympathy" to pay respects. Or do you think you can help? Then again, I don't think you can help it. But if you are skillful in use of GameMaker engine, you can always try and prove me otherwise.
Well, what do you know about gamemaker
Do you know how to script on a basic level?
When I tried to make my own little game using this I ran into problems pretty quickly without that knowledge.
Can you post the details of the error you are getting? That would be useful for anyone trying to help you.
I dont know much about programming, but I can sympathize on struggling with a personal project. I'm trying to write a novel.
I'd really recommend setting a weekly quota of time for yourself to dedicate to this, if it's something you really want to do. (If not doing it is really bothering you, that probably means that you do want to do it.)
Meeting that weekly quota of time will be a way to give you small achievable goals along the way of a bigger project.
Granted I don't know about the technicalities of programming, but as far as messes go, I'm always finding that what Ive written is a mess one way or the other. But it's a little less shit every time I keep trying.
Also, if game programming is something you really want to work at and improve on, accept that your first project is not going to be your best work. But finishing it regardless will be good experience to making better stuff in the future.
"This thing isn't going to un-fuck itself!" Is something I remind myself on a constant basis.
I hope any of this helps you.
Well, my problem, as I said before, is a big one. For four years I am beating the issues regarding Akir's Sandals(Speed Sandals), and their interaction with Speedway tiles. First, I'll explain what Akir's Sandals are like. Akir's Sandals are a powerup that, when activated(you store powerups on pick-up, and to activate, you need to press Down+B), grants you ability to rush at sonic speeds. And Speedway are, you might guess it, some kind of wheel-o-feet-stradas much like in Sonic. Right below is an example of such strada:

In fact, Classic Sonic Franchise's stradas came into inspiration for those speedways. And there is where the problems begin.
I made it so Speedways are only accessible by running into them with Sandals on. While Protagonist runs on horizontal Speedway tiles just fine, when it comes to diagonal tiles, he just runs through them instead of running up them, and then up vertical tiles. Which should not happen, honestly. I tried resolving it with my own hands. Nothing I tried worked. I tried asking for help in YoYoGames forum. Not even YoYoGames' local professionals could help me out with this. That's how my project was put into involuntary stasis.
If any of you got skills in GameMaker, and in particular, have some experience with Sonic-like movement, you can give a try. Just be warned, however, I use GameMaker 8 Pro, which I had five years ago to play with, but only half a year from now I use it at once for a big project. Might as well be my only GameMaker project once I finish this game and kick off my Game Development legacy.
Did anyone, by the chance, know any GameMaker forums other than YoYoGames. I feel like I have pestered YoYoGames forum guys for too much time now and need to find another forum.
