And I thought there were some sensible people that control our internet.
This substantial concession reflects the strength of the case made by the United States earlier this month,” Pai said. “It also demonstrates, contrary to the claims of the law’s supporters, that there is no urgent problem that these regulations are needed to address.” that or california feels pretty certain in their court case outcome that enforcing this standard now would send the message that they don't feel they have legal grounds to bring back the old standard.
What happened to states rights cunts?
"State rights first, but only if we agree with them"
its even more egregious with the fcc "We don't believe we have the right to police this but neither should the states."
California you spineless bastards.
This FCC seems to be more like "NOBODY should police this!"
Fucking spineless. When you hear about "corporate democrats" this is the shit they're referring to. You're not supposed to "strike a deal", you're supposed to fucking fight the FCC you morons. This shit is not a game. Not to mention this happens right before the midterms, which is even more stupid. So this might convince people not to vote Democrat. Fucking great job, morons.
this is where I think the courts will have to side against the FCC because he's essentially arguing that they don't have the authority to police a telecommunications system and dumped their authority to do so on the department of commerce but they can only retroactively punish companies so they do not have equally the same authority that the fcc had, then the fcc is also saying that states cannot enforce nn standards either because of federal superiority, but the fcc is not enforcing net neutrality and reversed their rules on it meaning there is no federal mandate that supercedes the states just a statement saying they can't do this
What else could one expect when you put assholes in charge.
And I have to vote for the lesser evil that basically just betrayed everyone in this state. Lovely.
no the democrats are democrats, the gop are the goose stepping corporate stooges.
I don't know. I can't really imagine the Democrats as the good guys when they're doing deals with the enemy like this, holding our quality-of-life by a string as a bargaining chip. I'm still gonna vote but good lord I am pissed off in more ways than one. They should have just ignored the FCC instead of caving to their hard-headed demands.
aka "States rights for me, not for thee"
“Ultimately it doesn’t matter how much trash talk you have before the game. Let’s see what happens in the DC circuit,” Feld said. More of that "game" talk I was referring to.
Schumer's been letting McConnell shove in judge picks at a rapid pace as a deal for time out of the Senate or something, Democrats are politicians, Republicans are a fascist cult.
Both parties need to be cleansed if we want any sort of "unity" any more. They're both corrupt to the bone, one is just more vocal about it. Republicans are Nazis and the Democrats are trying to "appease" the Nazis, something that never went well in history and will end badly for them.
I don't see how anything can be clean after Citizens United, worst SCOTUS decision since Dred Scott.
they're fighting for the federal rules in court, it probably undermines their case to say that the fcc's rollback was legitimate as california's standard hinges on the federal one not existing.
It will fail in the DC Circuit. They are walking right into a trap. Then again, the DC Circuit has stopped some of Trump's bullshit in the past. Let's hope they hold up CA's net neutrality and don't throw it to the dogs cause they've never used a computer. Hope for the best but expect the worst, especially anything related to tech and the law.
