The fuck?
It was going to be a commemorative £2 coin, but...
Elizabeth's been around so long 50 pence when she became queen would now be worth almost 15 pounds
Whos this for
What does it achieve
Why bother
Who came up with this idea
What does it do for Brexit
What does it do for everyone else
Why bother doing this stuff if all it'll do is hurt your reputation
why
why
why

Yeah, the currency's value has dropped so precipitously that I'll take it!
A commemorative 50p coin worth just 25p
I wonder if it would be possible to start a movement to have shops and the public reject the coin as a valid method of payment.
I assume it's illegal to reject certain legal tender and not other bits, but I admit I have very little knowledge of the law.
That's an oddly specific law, I think I recall some places not accepting £50 notes because they were the most frequently forged.
In the UK at least, smaller coins can legally be rejected for payments above a certain amount e.g. so some chucklefuck doesn't pay for a car exclusively with 5p coins. Dunno about just outright rejecting a specific coin if it's within that margin.
I've also experienced that, but only at smaller shops, etc. I don't think big businesses could get away with it. I am not sure on this at all though.
"Friendship With All Nations" meanwhile there's serious discussion of a no-deal Brexit.
So how many grams is that?
The metal in it will be worth more than the coin.
I've already organised securing one.
Bold move to make a commemorative coin worth your entire remaining national budget.
"Friendship with all nations, but not EU, fuck them".
Under UK law, debtors cannot be successfully sued for non-payment of their debts if they use legal tender to fulfil this obligation. Legal tender does not cover everyday transactions, and therefore businesses can accept or refuse any form of payment if they so wish to (unless of course this violates some other civil rights laws).
LOL gay
