Hello. I need help to find the models used in this video, Matt Baker from Brothers in Arms Hell´s Highway and the German Soldiers from Medal of Honor Airborne. I cant find them, can someone please tell me where can i find and download them for use in Source Filmmaker?. Thanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9prxfHlvc0
they must have on SFMLab or GMOD Workshop (with SFM Link in description) and not the SFM Workshop or might been deleted all together unfortunately
I searched all the GMod and SFM Workshops and the SFMLab, i cant find them, and the maker of the video dont say where are the models for download them.
I'm sure if you manage to find the game, download it and ninja rip the models toy require, unless you can find a dedicated tool to extract it??.. Sometimes you just gotta do the hard work yourself.
Im new to this. And the Ninjaripper seems too hard to use it myself. I prefer taking requests, but im new, i dont know how this works, how much do you need to pay, is there a way to be free?, if its pay, how i pay?, who can convert the models?, how much time takes converting characters from games?, every characters in every game can be converted?. Sorry, im new, and i dont know how all this works, Can someone please explain me everything?. Thanks.
You need to be prepared to put in the hard yards friend .. Passing Ninja Ripper (NR) off as 'too hard' will get you nowhere.. It takes research, persistence & a lot of trial & error.. & not everything is attainable but you gotta at least try & not be discouraged by the possibility of failure either. We all have to start off somewhere so if you're serious about giving it a crack yourself.. listen up! Using the right key words when Google searching tutorials/ YouTube/forums goes a long way.. having 3d modeling app experience certainly helps but not entirely essential (Blender/3ds max/ maya) as you can learn along the way. I'm not into porting so I can't help you there but to make it easier, break it down... First you need the game, so acquire that first... there are a few user friendly tutorials out there for NR so install the game, download NR, read the tutorials on how to use it and if you get stuck, ask on here
hell's highway is on unreal 3, just use umodel and you can get the models with rigging intact
I have the game Hell´s Highway. I tried to extract the character but really i find it impossible. How can i make a request or a paid request so someone can do it?. Thanks.
Ho to use Ninja Ripper « CG in Games This is the easiest tutorial you will find but everything needs to be configured properly otherwise it WILL NOT work.. These are fairly old games now but should be still rippable.. Are you running Windows 10 x64 ? .. This OS can prevent you from ripping so you will need to reinstall DirectX 9.0c.. otherwise Windows 7 would be preferable... Скачать Ninja Ripper There is x32 & x64 NR so try both for the below instructions if one doesn't work.. Once you load the games .exe within NR's interface, set the 'wrapper' dropdown mode to 'D3D9 wrapper' (under the 'Run' button) Click on 'Settings' to view which F key rips mesh & textures.. from memory I think it's 'F10' ... click the 'Run' to start the game.. Once in game, find the model you want & press F10 .. If the screen instantly freezes for a 5-10 seconds, that means it's ripping the meshes & textures.. just wait for the game to continue.. and exit the game & NR Can't guarantee this is fool proof but since I went to the trouble to explain this to you, I'd appreciate you at least trying .. 🙂 Any problems, reply to this post.
Thanks for the tutorials. I installed the Ninjaripper and i give it a try. In the guide it says i need to find the .exe of the game, i cant find it anywhere. I tried using the desktop icon of the game, but it didnt work and it says "Incorrect executable". What i need to do here?. Thanks. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/5516be9e-d6c3-42f1-9a20-7d0b143c3504/1.PNG
Going by your screenshot, unless you have the game installed on your desktop which I doubt, that is the shortcut to the .exe ... right click on the shortcut and select 'Open folder location' (think that's what it's called on Windows 7 or similar?..) This will take you straight to the .exe location of the game ... from there you can either remember the directory location and locate it in NR and click 'Run' OR right click on the address bar of the folder & select 'Copy Address'.. then in NR right click in the field for .exe location and 'Paste' ensuring the previous desktop address is not in the field mixed up with what you just pasted Then click 'Run' & fingers crossed, the game will start??...
I find the exe. I tried to use it but it appears this message when i use "Intruder Inject", i tried all the other options that are not "Intruder Inject" and nothing happens. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/e2b77cb1-5a02-4eb4-96dc-67b9529fe8a5/1.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/18eec5bb-9ee1-4785-be23-e32a872a8b2a/2.PNG
Both of games are supported. Use umodel as NinjaNub said before UE Viewer | Gildor's Homepage
Is there somwhere a good tutorial for Umodel?. Im trying to use it but i dont know how. Thanks.
@Hauk011 Did you install DX9.0c?... hmm maybe umodel may be the better approach.. at least you'll have the characters rigged once you get your head around the program
I have DX11 so i think i cant install the DX9, the DX11 will have problems with Ninja Ripper?. Thnaks.
Well done!!! .. did you press F10 right next to the models you want? .. When possible, it's good practice to get as close proximity to walk around the desired character/props for a few seconds or so to ensure the game engine loads the highest detail of that mesh and it's texture maps.. You may have noticed when playing games in general, the detail increases the closer you get to your target.. (I'm not a gamer/engine expert though have discovered this with trial&error playing games/using NR) Now.. you need 2 things: 1. 3DS MAX (Assuming you don't have it so you can either download a trial from the Autodesk website though be warned!, the latest version of this 3d app is heavily resource intensive so if your PC specs are mediocre, you would benefit from an earlier version... the most common place to acquire an earlier version via BitTorrent) *If you never used BitTorrent, that's another tutorial in itself! 2. NR Importer script for 3ds Max I won't go any further until you get up to this stage...
Thanks for the tutorials. I have the .rip and .dds https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/cd828c04-3187-443a-9e38-2d73719201d6/1.PNG Im only interested in the characters of the game, i dont want the other things like, objects, weapons, and vehicles, i only want the characters. A question, for them where i can find them, i press F10 on the main menu, that is enough for characters or i have to F10 while playing or in another menu? I installed the 3DS Max. But i cant find the NR Importer Script, where can i download it? Thanks.
Never played the game so don't know what the menus are like.. most probably in game may be best choice.. if they show the full character moving animated in menu, try that but otherwise in game.. The script is in the 'Tools' folder from the zip file when you downloaded NR... Run 3ds max & depending on what version you have, in the top main menu there will be either 'Scripts/Scripting or Maxscript'.. select that drop down menu & then select 'Run Script'.. Then you locate the Tools folder to wherever you extracted it on your PC and select the script .. try and follow the online NR tutorial to understand how it works.. & get back to me if stuck..
I tried to use the script, but i dont know what exactly is in all this files. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/3812069c-698e-40a3-9f33-c6c2a4bbedad/1.PNG I manage to open in 3DS the archive in the folder "scripts", but it give an error and i cant open it again in 3DS. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/36ee31a8-8486-4e17-8fd9-cb468fa1a125/2.PNG
Use the '3ds max Maxscript Importer'.. in my experience, the GIMS importer is temperamental
I used the '3ds max Maxscript Importer' and it worked. I have this character, but the problem is that he don’t have head and is completely black without textures. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/62912733-bd6d-43c8-8ba1-0e39f8707521/2.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/e59648cb-ce96-44ac-b0e1-96edf2062ba8/1.PNG   The files list is giant, is there a way to know what it is every of those files?, for example, I open others and are objects, Im just interested in the characters, how can I see what is each one, do I have to manually open each?. Thanks. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/6e207d1e-db80-4490-9fdf-d2cace8ff575/3.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/8243b3bb-19c6-4d5e-99e2-1f49a59944ea/4.PNG
Not really any exact way to determine which .rip file is the mesh you're after... Generally a character model will be higher in file size as opposed to most props etc but it depends how the mesh is created also For eg: Your character .rip file may be 2-4 megabytes as they usually have a higher number of vertices/poly-count than compared to lets say a rifle or hand gun... having said that, your characters head is a separate mesh to the body, therefore it would have a small vertices/poly-count and depending on what is in the entire scene when you rip it, some meshes will be very similar in size (like a landscape mesh may be equal to your character in file size) So essentially most of the time there is little way of telling which mesh is which until you view it in 3ds max as each game is built different according the creators & game engine.. after ripping a few times your awareness increases & you get a knack for figuring out which .rip file is the one you want but it is certainly never guaranteed. Two ways you can go about it: import one .rip file at a time like you mentioned (not recommended)... OR You can import the ENTIRE ripped scene which is a bit of a headache & tedious as you have to sort through/delete all the meshes to find the ones you want & there can be anything from 100-2000 .rip files to import depending on the scene/game... ***Characters can be easier to locate as 9/10 the meshes are in the centre of all the other meshes & once you delete the ones you don't need, you will eventually see your character amongst the remaining chaos of meshes.
I extracted other characters. But they have the same problem, they have no color and no head. I tried to move and put the head in the character, I don’t know if that’s the correct way to do it. Is there another way to make the character have head and helmet?. How can I add the texture and color to the characters?. Thanks. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/382e982d-0943-4b9a-9305-97f880045125/2 (2).PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/99dcc499-5e89-463c-b253-12b362bd976f/1.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/8e28b849-958c-4cf9-bb87-7d37aa98ce49/2.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/2cfd9293-2c40-4cb5-9aca-d76348eeab0f/3.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/368e8e5f-9e0f-4810-8713-76eec5e83df4/3 (2).PNG
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/277755/b75868ff-dd88-43c2-b6a0-277863bec244/NRguide.png As you can see from the screenshot, on the left inside my rip folder is 'Mesh_0774.rip' which is the last .rip file before it carries on to the .dds files.. so '0774' is the last .rip file of your scene.. Within the NR Importer, you need to change your 'Source Select' from 'Single' to 'Group', then locate your rip folder directory & then manually enter '0000-0774' in the 'RIP File Nums' field.. (The first .rip starts at 0000) The textures most of the time are never applied correctly & you need to located them similar to the same process as the meshes... If you're after more than one character out of this game, just focus on one for now, get all his parts/guns you need etc and once you got them, I'll guide you through getting the texture maps applied... Sorry as just a little busy at the moment...
I have my character complete, i joined all his parts. Im ready for the textures. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/2aad0fd1-4c50-4b34-95bc-dc71c746fc7e/1.PNG
You're doing great!!! ... Ok... lets start with your separate head mesh first... to make it visually easier, select all the mesh parts you have there EXCEPT the head, right click & select 'Hide Selection'... don't worry, you can easily get them back by right clicking again & choose 'Unhide All'... Select your head mesh & towards the right of your screen you will see a side panel with a bunch of small icons & text buttons (Box; Cone; Sphere; Geosphere etc).. & follow the below screenshot. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/277755/593b73ac-fafc-43a7-a2d9-cdb1f0b292c6/NRguideUVW.png Once you select the 'Unwrap UVW' modifier, it will be applied to your head mesh & within the unwrap modifier settings, also on the right, scroll down to the 'Edit UV's' tab & select 'Open UV's'.. you should end up with a window opeing showing something similar to the screenshot below... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/277755/f3bb2a35-5e7e-4077-99fb-adc3fdafe8db/NRguideUVW-2.png So whatever your head mesh looks like with the unwrap modifier applied in the 'Edit UVWs' window, you now need to locate out of all the .dds texture maps within your rip folder, which one correlates to your mesh head unwrapped.. *Most likely you will have x1 'Diffuse/Colour' texture map that can be applied to not just the head, but also for the body too, so do the same process as this to your characters body to see the overall unwrap mesh layout. To give you an idea, this is the Diffuse texture map for my head below: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/277755/cd9938c5-2b7a-424a-a092-5f8b05cb00b3/UVdiffuseMap.png
I noticed by your screenshot that you have no program assigned to view your .dds files (texture maps)... you will be able to view them in 3ds max but that will be too awkward sorting through them that way & Windows 7 photo/image viewer does not support this format, so the easiest/my preferred way around this would be to use 'XnView Classic' https://www.xnview.com/en/xnview/ Once you've downloaded/installed it, go to your rip folder, double click on one of your .dds files & assign Windows to open with the program. Inside Xnview, go to 'File' & then 'Browse'.. you now can view all the .dds image files like you do with photos inside Windows. Here is a tutorial I made recently for a friend, also learning how to apply textures in 3ds max.... .png's are used instead of .dds but the method of applying is the same.. it will also show you how to apply other associated maps like bump/normal; specular etc... https://www.mediafire.com/file/lqtvczlhmroww2p/3DS_Max_-_Assign_Textures_%28Compact_Material_Editor%29.mp4/file Let me know how you go & Good Luck!!!...
I manage to get the textures using the Xnview. When i try to use them my material editor is different that the one that appear in the tutorial video, i tried selecting the same options but i dont find them, i post a photo of my try and my version of the material editor. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/0d72c624-8103-49e2-a39e-6ec9f5f39ada/1.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/b1ba27b7-0340-4ece-a43d-592895ae9b42/3.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/acdb8424-6afd-459a-8954-8103df419968/2.PNG https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/341853/79cdc8af-67c6-4ca6-af66-ee7b745fc996/6.PNG
At the top left of your material editor, select 'Mode' and change it to 'Compact'..
