Turns out the “issue” wasn’t your average freeze. It was a bug where clicking any button on the launch client would delete the entire beta and force users to download the just-under-50GB thing all over again.
It just works
got to love Bethesda bugs
it's not fallout 76 that did it, it's the launcher itself.
No one can upload bugs to Youtube that make your game look bad if they can't play it.
No one can complain about bugs if the beta is at odd hours on odd days of the week either
Working as it should
Why are people still giving Bethsoft their money after shit like this?
Because it's the first time this has happened and it's a "beta" not the release of the game?
didn't even click anything on the launcher and it wiped my files :c
And this is why I am almost certainly going to be skipping Doom Eternal on PC. I'll buy the fucking switch port, 30 FPS and all, before I'll ever download the shittiest client in all of PC gaming.
That's a bug? Sounds like a feature for the game. Best way to play.
Because it's a bug. They'll fix it. It's not like they took the money, made the game delete itself and ran off like "SEE YA, SCHMUCKS!"
And Bethsoft has such a well known reputation for shipping bug-free titles.
Sorry, I just interpreted it differently than you meant it.
well, at least it's just a piece of beta software that deletes itself and not the My Documents folder being deleted by a forced update or anything
i understand disliking companies but come on

BGS isn't hurting for cash, they're either incompetent or unwilling to change their behavior, I don't respect a company that doesn't respect its customers.
How the fuck this bug happen??
I do think people who have never written code before, especially gamers, can expect games to be unrealistically stable/bug-free at beta and release, but this is a pretty shocking and ridiculous bug, I must say.
Bethesda decided to bypass Steam and create their own launcher. One they evidently have done no QA on, they have preemptively apologized that any bugs won't get fixed, that they knowingly never fix bugs after launch (or before), etc. Bethesda, and by extension Zenimax, should be treated the same as Take-Two at this point. They treat their customers like absolute shit.
Beta a week before release. Sounds about right.
The bethesda launcher has been released for a year and a half, hardly a beta by now
It deleted it for me, but when I redownloaded it it downloaded 10x faster than I initially downloaded it. Was able to play the beta when it started, guess I was lucky!
Doesn't it come out on november 14th
