While I do agree that storytellers always had to carefully pick their stories to tell, I believe being informative is slightly different, especially when picking arguments.
One has the intention of keeping people guessing, another not so much.
Even when you want to be informative there is such a thing as giving too much information.
yah I do agree that being succinct and relevant has always been important, so much so even in day to day conversations.
