All this month, Donald Trump has been attempting to drum up fear among voters that a migrant caravan hundreds of miles from the border is a grave threat to their lives, and that only he and his fellow Republicans can protect them.
Two weeks ago, he claimed, without any evidence, that “criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in” with the group. Later, to heighten the drama, he dispatched thousands of troops to “secure” the border and deny the migrants entry, despite the fact that
1) they’re traveling on foot and weeks away
2) the military doesn’t actually have the power to do anything once they’re there
3) the group plans to surrender at a port of entry and seek amnesty, which is the only way they can do so under current U.S. law.
Perhaps worried that voters were not sufficiently scared enough to stave off a “blue wave,” though, on Wednesday, he pulled out the big guns and the mother of all dog whistles: a conspiracy theory about George Soros, a favorite bogeyman among white nationalists and neo-Nazis:

Trump's managing to do the unthinkable and motivate his own base for a midterm, expect every GOP president to do this now.
Actually reading the article, though, I will say that it's kind of very leading questions. Like, journalists have realized that Trump is a fucking moron, so you can set him up with anything to get a vague yes-ish answer from him.
Trump loves campaigning way more than he loves governing, and now is the prime time to campaign and get his dick sucked by his base to feed his ego.
A lot of people say that Donald J. Trump is a shabby con man with extensive mafia affiliations and a documented history of tax fraud, too, but we aren't deploying troops to solve that urgent problem.
I hope Trump's rhetoric backfires and moderates fall away from the GOP even as his racist base juices up on xenophobic hatred.
But that’s a problem in and of itself—Trump is a fucking moron. The President of the United States of America is a fucking moron. And because of this, constantly shits out stupid garbage from his oral anus. He’s so easily manipulated, but still has his own racist ideals and biases, he just plays coy about it; and anything else, he gives wishy washy noncommittal statements like “we’ll see” or “we’re gonna do something”.
Doesn’t matter if it’s leading—a real President wouldn’t fall for this shit.
Oh absolutely a massive problem, but it's also an easy way to manufacture controversies. He has no informed opinions on anything so he'll agree to anything he's heard of, so if he has heard of something dumb you can put words in his mouth to make him say something dumb. Only thing he's smart enough to do is never directly say it. Always 'a lot of people say...' or 'I heard that...' or some dumb hedging like that, gives plausable deniability because it is true that a lot of people say Soros funds it.

Like, I get it, he's rich. Really rich. And he does fund political action groups and lobbyists.
But that money isn't infinite or untraceable.

So in the other thread people were debating whether or not Trump knows what the consequences of his words are or not but this seems pretty clear to me. Five days after some dude attacks a synagogue based on Soros conspiracy theories he goes and pushes the same theory.
Also kinda kills the "but he didn't like trump" spin I've seen .
