man i didn't think i'd see the end of payday 2, feels somewhat surreal
There's one last thing, the Payday 2 secret to lead into Payday 3, like how the PD:TH secret led into Payday 2. They added a hidden achievement no one knows how to get. This may be a sort of "bad end" without the secret being found.
can't remember how the PD:TH secret lead to PD2, care to explain? I only remember the overdrill stuff
For me that game died years ago. I used to play it like crazy, but ever since Gus Fring started giving me objectives that I did not understand at all I stopped playing.
It was an ARG to hype up Payday 2, along with easter eggs like crime.net hidden on a laptop. Canonically the Overdrill gold is sold to Hector and used to create crime.net, and in these last heists Bain says we need that gold back.
The whole "Breaking News" event was a mess of loose plotlines that didn't go anywhere, so to just throw "THE END" randomly in there feels pretty abrupt and lame.
The gold in the FWB that you steal is fenced by Hector.
This is not really the true end, there's the secret left
I barely played it on launch but I picked up again at some point this year only to be super disappointed. Maybe it was always like this and I never noticed but playing this game from the start feels likes playing a free to play game without buying anything. That sort of thing is why I stopped buying AAA games this year. That feeling of going from thinking, "I paid full price for this game, so I have all the things in this game. Even if there's DLC, I still have all the base stuff and that's just extras" to thinking, "Oh no I have nothing and it all costs more money. I bought the ability to buy more things."
Wait there was an actual plot to Payday 2?
Better if you pretend there isn't because it's always been a disappointing mess. I hope they get some actual writers for Payday 3.
Yeah the Overkill writer (newly hired) said it was surprisingly planned out. Turns out the virus from No Mercy was sold to the PMC Murkywater, in exchange for giving Bain a book called The Guide of Cagliostro, (This is the extra freebie you got if you preordered PD2). Murkywater is controlled by the Dentist, who is an immortal demigod along with the Elephant and Vlad. They were the three kings of a millennium old society called Kataru, based on the stewardship of a world ending artifact that came to be known as "Baldwin's Lament". Baldwin, Cagliostro, and others were "Watchers" servants to the kings, who prevented the misuse of the Lament. The Elephant was training Bain to be his new watcher. Kataru disintegrated when Vlad, the Scribe King disappeared, and went into hiding, presumed dead. Before that watcher Baldwin tried to steal the Lament while the White House burned during the War of 1812. The Kataru control giant aliens/demons named Nephilim, who destroyed the White House. August Lindenhurst, the regent serving in place of the Scribe King, stole a part of what seems to be the "key" to the Lament. He boarded a ship headed to Antarctica, and was killed by Nephilim. The other parts of the key were sealed into three boxes, one for each king. It seems like the Healer King, the Dentist, is in conflict with the Elephant King, the Elephant, over control of the key. One of the boxes is the mysterious box we stole from the Golden Grin casino. We stole the three boxes back, as well as the Obsidian plate Lindenhurst stole, and they're in the safehouse, watched over by the new heister Duke, a historian whose grandfather corresponded with Lindenhurst. Bain was kidnapped by Kataru last year and held in the Murkywater prison Hell's Island, we got him back, but they infected him with the No Mercy virus. Vlad went out of hiding and gave us the Diamond we stole for the Dentist back to us as well. With the artifact pieces ours, the Dentist seems to be panicking, Blowing up the four temples that control access to the Lament presumably. The Dreaming Temple from Lovecraft mythos, the Great Pyramid of Giza, but failed with the Ziggurat of Ur and the Temple of Technoitictlan. As well as evacuating his pawn the President. Bain is dying and has us do the greatest heist, stealing presidential pardons from the White House. This frees the gang and they escape. But the Secret is not done, after completing the White House the Key is complete, and it's some ancient machine, there's something we must do but it's unknown at the moment. The Guide of Cagliostro is in the safehouse now, and touching the Diamond to it makes it burst into flames as well
ancient aliens.
what the actual fuck is going on here
There is no fucking way. I thought this shit was about pulling daring heists?
I can't tell if this is an extremely elaborate shitpost or the actual secret plot.
They should really have stuck to pulling big scores because of the money.
That statue in the background of the video also says "BAIN THE WATCHER FALLEN" in the Kataru language I believe
I didn't know the Payday gang were members of the Badage Boys
The Badage Boys was an ARG this whole time
Also, H3H3 is there
I haven't followed Payday 2 for years now so I had to look over all this info and holy shit the game really is now about immortal demigods, ancient aliens, giants, Cthulhu and Illuminati governments https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_OyJmO_XBQ
mostly correct, a couple corrections. I am assuming all of this is fair game Lindenhurst appears to have been trying to keep someone else (probably the dentist) from stealing his/the scribe's part of the device. He was "diverted" on the way to the south pacific temple. The kataru broke up when baldwin tried to steal the lament in 1814, we assume that they carried on fine when vlad disappeared, using a regent as a replacement. Lindenhurst was the last of the regents, because he died after the whole Baldwin mess. The Dentist is the primary antagonist; he appears likely to be trying to steal everything for himself, and has control over murkywater, etc. The mysterious thunderstorms at various sites, including the destruction of the temples and the site of the crash of air force one, are likely the nephilim. We don't know if they are under the dentist's control, are acting on their own, or what.
to be honest, the cutscene itself is a pretty solid dead stop for something like Payday 2. I'd say it's a cool sendoff for something that's been around for, arguably, too long.
I tried coming back to it a few times but I dunno if I never noticed it when I was big into it or something changed but there's a lack of consistency between aim sensitivity when hipfiring and when aiming down the sight, something about the FOV change doesn't adjust and makes it so that it feels really janky.
They added a setting to fix that
So... What I get from this video, is that Dallas will be the only returning heister in Payday 3? That sounds good to me.
I know they had a setting but it didn't fix it for me, maybe it works better now though, it's been like almost a year since I played it last.
Who writes this stuff Are "stealing pardons" seriously the most logical thing they could think of. I mean really I can't be the only one who doesn't see the sense in that Back in 2013, I wanted bigger heists than what we had because the game was fucking devoid of variety, half the heists we did were small fry stuff like vandalizing a few stores, and looting a mall. And we only had 1 bank that you robbed in like 4 different ways. We only had like 4 multi-day heists, and then they had that thing where they never made another 3-day heist ever again. I didn't want bigger to mean completely nonsensical and just.. What? I just miss being the bad man who stole money from the world for kicks, when and WHY did it become about saving the world from some ancient evil or something.
