A federal judge ruled Friday that Georgia's "exact match" rules for voter registration will not apply for next week's midterm, allowing people who have seen their voter registration held
up to vote.
The "exact match" law used by Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp's office marks an applicant’s registration as “pending” if the personal information on their voter registration form
doesn’t exactly match the information on the state's Department of Driver Services or the Social Security Administration. If marked pending, the applicant has 26 months to provide the
accurate information.
Friday's decision will let people who have their applications held up under this rule to vote on Nov. 6 if they provide proof of citizenship to a country registrar or poll manager. If proof
cannot be provided on site, voters will be allowed to submit provisional ballots and provide the needed information to a registrar before the Friday after the election.
The decision was based on a determination that the exact match system will cause individuals with suspended applications “irreparable harm if they lose the right to vote.” Another
Georgia judge ruled earlier this week that absentee ballot applications in violation of this rule could not be thrown out.
Kemp is also running for governor, raising complaints from his opponent Stacey Abram's (D) campaign about potential voter suppression.
This picture. There's nothing that screams "I'm an old Republican" quite like a dinged up 1986 F-350 Crew Cab in your ads.
and yet ND's law which uses the same bullshit to discriminate with surgical precision has been upheld with a note that the judge believed it was troubling.
fucking judges should have moved on these things 6 months ago instead of right during the election. The ND law was only reinstated last month for no reason
I want to get my hands on it to scavenge some parts for my '85 F150. Dvr's side window, the seats, most of the dash panelling, steering wheel, possibly pedal pads if it's a manual, headliner....quite a few body panels would fit, too, could fix the rust gashes in my bed and replace both front quarters.
Kemp needs to be introduced to the angriest part of a combine harvester.
That's not an 86 you dinguses, if anything that's a 92-96
In all seriousness, Kemp's a god awful person for all the shit he's done. I know it never will but I hope it comes back to get him one of these days.
Of course the Republicans drive Ford.
Chevy for life bitches.
you've got me all wrong
i'm a "owns an ancient honda but dreams of having a tesla" kind of man
