Senate: The Republicans are in a strong position to maintain control; Democrats need to sweep every tossup state and win one Republican-leaning seat. House: The Democrats are favorites to take over the House; Republicans need to win almost every tossup seat. Governorships: The Democrats are likely to make gains, but there are close races in several states. BALLOT MEASURES Don't forget ballot measures, the system by which legislatures and citizens in some states can force a referendum on a specific issue. There is a particularly diverse set of them this year, here are some of the interesting ones: Voting rights: Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, and Utah are voting on new redistricting systems to combat gerrymandering. Florida is voting on whether to abolish their lifetime ban on ex-convicts voting. 8 states are voting on other issues such as voter ID and automatic registration systems. Marijuana: North Dakota and Michigan are voting on the legalization of recreational marijuana. Utah and Missouri are voting on medical marijuana initiatives. Healthcare: Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, and Utah will decide whether to expand Medicaid under Obamacare. Energy/climate change: Arizona and Nevada will vote on new renewable energy standards, while Washington will vote on establishing a carbon tax. Abortion: Alabama and West Virginia will consider new anti-abortion policies, while Oregon will decide whether to ban public funding of abortions. Minimum wage: Arkansas and Missouri will consider whether to raise the minimum wage. RESOURCES Live results pages: Politico, CNN, NBC Livestreams: See bottom of OP FiveThirtyEight forecasts: Senate, House, Governor WHEN WILL WE KNOW THE RESULT? Hopefully by midnight ET (5am UTC) we'll have a good idea of what's going on, but there will likely be some ultra-close races that take days to sort out. Pray that the overall congressional result doesn't hinge on these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzbOeDhI8B0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvHba1WE8gI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czFMNst2svg FACEPUNCH PREDICTS THE 2018 MIDTERMS SUBMISSIONS CLOSE 6PM ET/11PM UTC, NOVEMBER 6TH Reply to this thread predicting the number of House and Senate seats the Democrats will win. The person who is closest on the House number will win 2,018 coins. In the event of a tie, the Senate number will be considered. If still tied, the earliest poster will win.
Please god let there be a blue fucking wave. Get out there and fucking vote.
Let the Chaos Begin...
Let the games begin.
Oh fuck the chances of me clicking Accept Answer on a random post are literally 200%
My prediction: Democrats win the House, but fail to gain control of the Senate. That Senate map is just way too unfavorable this election.
Michigan's also got some public school funding proposals on ballot, at least in certain districts.
this doesn't just effect America Your vote will have an effect on a global scale You CAN make a difference You CAN change this!
Fuck it, I am a gambling man. Republicans will keep the senate (53 seats) and the house (218 seats) majority. Whoever loses, I win. I wish, though, to be pleasantly surprised...
To make comparisons easy, pls submit answers as the number of seats the Dems will win. In this case I'll assume your post means 47 Senate and 217 House for the Dems. Also I'll make clear that Dem-caucusing independents like Bernie Sanders will be counted as Democrats for this contest.
Here's my specific guess. Its boring but whatever: House: Dems gain 35 seats @ 230 - 205 Senate: Reps gain 1 seat @ 52 - 48
House: D 240 - 195 R Senate: R 54 - 46 D (And, just for fun, I predict Beto O'Rourke and Stacy Abrams will both lose.)
House 229 D 206 R Senate 50 D 50 R
265 House 17 Senate
Here's hoping the republicans get their shit pushed in; voter turnout so far has been friggin' immense.
Beto seems pretty likely to lose but so did Trump. Ain't over til it's over.
Motherfucker, picking one away from my guess.
House: 245 Dem seats Senate: 50-50 because I'd prefer not to predict a Republican gain even though it's the more likely outcome. What's going to be very interesting is the governorships and how those settle out. Blue gains here are very important, but I have not done enough research on all 50 states' governor races so I've no idea what's going to happen. Some states may turn (more) purple this week. I hope there aren't too many who get even more red.
A blue wave in a sea of piss Jeb!
Tbh I just picked a random number and saw your's was similar after
Blue wave huh damn I cant wait to pay the 50% tax rate. Vote RED
Everyone including myself needs to started voting tomorrow and also please check your voter resignations if your state didn't get rid of you... But like last election, I will only vote some (maybe not anti-establishment or real-left wing by no choice) Democrats, Libertarians and newly appeared Greens to spoiled Republican wins for this one.
You wouldn't be paying 50% tax under Democrats unless you're making more money than Donald Trump, even in Bernie's fantasies. Vote red if you enjoy a $1 trillion deficit next year because of massive corporate tax cuts and believe yourself to be a temporarily-embarrassed millionaire.
The judeobolshevik Democrats are beginning to undo the fabric of WHITE, CHRISTIAN AMERICAN society. Firstly, they SACRIFICE GOATS and CHILDREN in the name of GEORGE MARX... they want to tax the people 100% and they will stop at nothing to enforce their national muslim socialist SJW dictatorship all over the US. Vote RED this November for EUROPA, and the white race. _____________________ ✠✠✠✠✠ SIEG HEIL EUROPA https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/225353/ba9e0960-190e-4026-93c2-3cb317cf4f36/cursedimage.PNG ✠✠✠✠ ___________________________
Oh you poor baby, thinking taxes are the biggest issue and not literal human rights violations.
I mailed in my ballot 3 weeks ago before I even began receiving calls, messages, and mail. Leave me alone already, I want to focus on my midterms so I can graduate
