these aren't the cyberpunk naming conventions i was promised
i played ingress quite a bit a few years ago, even got kinda involved with the local community. the community part is what i enjoyed the most, the game itself was ok tho i might give this a pass, don't have the time to get involved with the community again
I just updated and I guess it looks okay. I've got a newer phone (Pixel 2) so I've got hardware enough to run it with no complaints. Reviews complain about increased battery drain though. At least it's just a major update/replacement to the existing Ingress client and not a completely new game running alongside the old Ingress game; I was able to sign in on my existing account.
Still have ingress on my phone, played pretty hard about 3 months ago. Looks like I need to boot it up!
Looks kinda interesting. Not as attention grabbing or simple as say pokemon go but It looks interesting to say the least. Dont see it catching on with most people tho especially if they're banking on migrating pokemon go players.
I downloaded ingress ages ago, found that my small ass town only had one capture spot (or whatever they call it) and it seemed to be taken over by a hacker/vpn user. it was impossible to take back
In the first few years, it wasn't too hard to get new locations added. As it got more popular, the submissions queue system could not cope and they had to do drastic things to manage. But even back in the day, people abused it because of course they did. I saw a photo somewhere of an Ingress portal of an "art installation", since that was one of the acceptable portal submission locations, was some dude's driveway where the sloped pavement rose above the level of the lawn and there was a little "mouse house" facade on the side of the concrete with a little fake door and windows and flower baskets and stepping stones into the grass. He had created a personal portal he could tap from his bed and it was approved by Niantic.
Ingress didn't even really have enough aspects of a game to even qualify as a game to me. Was more of a clicker-light that involved walking around, and i live in NYC which is supposed to be one of the better places for it, but no.
I played shitloads of Ingress when I lived in Turku, was a good way to get out and stop being so depressed. But it's terrible where I live now, lots of distance between portals and lots of elevation change.
It's just a massive data mining operation, actually. All the locations for gyms and the like in Pokemon Go are 100% thanks to Ingress.
Does Magisk not bypass it?
It does.
