Still a few graphical glitches and performance dips but you could play it from start to finish without too many issues, assuming you got a higher end cpu
Considering how young this emulator is, damn that's super impressive.
I think it's based on Citra, which in itself is based on (legally obtained?) tech documents/dev kits
They do have a lot of things going for them. The Switch OS is based on the 3DS OS, so a lot of HLE stuff could just be ripped from Citra. A ton of NVIDIA reverse-engineering work was already done by developers writing open-source Linux drivers for NVIDIA cards.
This current generation isn't even over and we're already getting decent (if not still far off) emulation of the consoles.
if yuzu's absurd development rhythm keeps up we could totally see it being playable for real in a year
It kind of makes me wonder if the trend is going to result in game companies trying to crack down on this.
There's legal precedent for emulators, they're legal.
If it doesn't use any code from the companies console that is being emulated and doesn't distribute or promote any pirating of said product, they're fine.
The only real problem is that the emulator is getting close to being playable while the console is still active, which might cause some problems. But by the time anything is working properly, the next console should be out anyway.
Yeah, and the Tegra X1 (Switch's SoC) is based on Maxwell architecture (GTX 9xx)
Here's what Splatoon 2 looks like for comparison:

Plaza seems somewhat OK, right? But what about anything else in the game?

This is one of the better versions of this graphical corruption. The plaza looks just as messed up if you return to it. Oh, and the central ink mechanic doesn't work, so you can't even beat a single stage (nor the tutorial). I think much of the recent work on the emulator has been geared at making Odyssey and BotW look and run better, and they still have lots to do for general switch emulation.
