Like I said in the last thread. If the house isn't launching an investigation into everything 24/7. Then they aren't being a productive house. We need to make the GOP's life a living hell the next two years to show who the GOP really are.
Amazing how many 'firsts' were made tonight. First woman governors, first gay governor, first Muslim governor, and many more!
From what I'm reading Trump's taxes are on the table as the Democrats will have control of the Ways and Means committee.
Proud to contribute to Kansas having Native American Kickboxing Lesbian as as representative

So I can't think about an (non-Democrat) Libertarian female candidate somehow beat Republican who just happens be majority house leader in their state??? This is feel weird but said weirdly good job their win in 55th Wyoming house district and first time in while that third party rightly win an seat? https://twitter.com/LPNational/status/1060018559672336384 https://twitter.com/ballotpedia/status/1060025527002714112
This sounds like exactly the problem we face in politics in the US. What an ignorant plan. Two halves struggling against each other doesn't get far. I don't understand why our government can't at least make a minute effort for bipartisan progress in attempts to short out our country's shortcomings. Instead each party is so concerned with impeding the other we get nowhere.
What would this entail?
Trying to work with Nazis is not particularly productive
the bill "prohibits discrimination in public accommodations on the basis of gender identity", voting YES meant that you wanted to uphold the bill It amended Section 92A of chapter 272 of the General Laws to cover "gender identity" in "any place of public accommodation, resort or amusement that lawfully segregates or separates access...based on a person’s sex" such that all individuals shall be treated "consistent with the person’s gender identity." The places of "public accommodation" where discrimination is forbidden include, according to GLAD, "restaurants, libraries, hotels, malls, public transportation, and beyond," as well as "bathrooms and locker rooms."
Now that dems have the House, we can finally start to hold the GOP accountable for their bullshit, right?
Glad to hear it! Let's make the GOP's life a living hell by investigating Trump non-stop. On a tangential note, are Smurfy's 2018 coins held hostage because the thread is locked?
https://twitter.com/RalstonReports/status/1060035721287806977 Guess it'll go 52-48 or 53-47
https://twitter.com/sahilkapur/status/1057115266499440640 This was the Democratic candidate.....
Yes! Can't wait for gridlock! Democracy! Fuck yes
Ever since the Clinton administration, it's been the sole goal of the Republican party to obstruct and repeal anything the Democrats want to do, using the guise of "compromise" to gut and undermine things like the ACA. It's so bad that now when they get control they have no fuckin idea what to do with the power and just pass repeals and destructive dumb shit instead of actually progressing on any of their real platforms. The GOP is politically bankrupt, they are an entirely reactionary party.
Before this elections candidates like her and Joe Donnelly were needed to have a chance for Dems to take the Senate. But now I think the states have both moved too far red and Republicans would rather vote for a Republican, and more liberal types may not feel motivated to vote for them. But progressives are also losing so I've no idea what Democrats do.
Like I said in another thread: The commercials against her were showing her beating someone up in a cage match. And all that did was make me want to vote for her more. She did beat out someone I personally knew in the Dem primary back in August, but hey, she won, so good.
I'm not super surprised that Donnelly lost though what did surprise me was that my city actually went slightly blue considering I saw almost nothing but Braun signs while driving around town though I do live on the more rural side of town.
would you rather have the toilet be clogged or have it violently spray shit into your house
So, question @smurfy can you even give the coins to people now that the thread is locked? You can't rate in them, so...
Republicans ar eliterally pulling further and further right for the sake of power and money. They're the ones who had complete control and decided to halfassed their approach to everything including god damn tax codes which had scribbled in sparknotes. Republicans can't lead, period.
What a fun anal-olgy heh
the real coins was the friends we made along the way
"I want responsible immigration control." "I want to fucking put immigrants on spikes as a warning to anyone who dares cross our borders because they're diluting our god-given genes and rights and taxes and jobs! Also, we should authorize the shooting of anyone on sight who attempts to cross the border after sunset. Also we should allow citizens to engage in this activity with state-granted licenses." Exactly where should the first party of those two 'stop impeding the other so that we can get somewhere' in your opinion?
She also was in deep shit in Mississippi so no surprise there.
1) Politics are supposed to be based around compromise 2) Mitch McConnell did the same thing to Obama in 2008, 2010, etc, so I really don't want to hear your complaints about gridlock
Gridlock is better than nothing. It'll hopefully keep Trump and the lot pinned up until 2020, which is enough time for hope that 2020 can turn the tides. This midterm was very close, and full of firsts. And also had a pretty large turnout. If we can have an even larger turnout for the 2020 elections, there is still hope.
