A migrant who raped and murdered a young girl was sentenced to 8 years.
What are they supposed to do? Keep them in prison forever? I'm sure you could rehabilitate two murderers into perfectly productive members of society in 15 years, don't forget that they're people too.
Well, I wouldnt necessarily mind a life sentence in this case, but something like 20 years would be a lot more sensible
Also, I am skeptical about the ability to "rehabilitate" them. I dont know much about german prison system, but if anything it is more likely to radicalize them further.
Not to mention that if you anally raped someone to death with a piece of wood just because he was a homosexual, you probably get your people warranty revoked. And no, you can't blame it on poland or polish culture or some bs like that. I lived my whole life in Poland and I have never killed anyone gay in a horrible way (yet).
Maybe it's just my own moral compass, but anything less than a life sentence for murder is not acceptable.
Murder isn't applicable since it wasn't planned in advance, iirc.
Life sentences can still be given for 'especially grave manslaughter' though.
That said, the highest possible not-lifelong sentence in Germany is 15 years, which means their sentences are very high in terms of our legal system here.
