They are being naive if they think this is going to stop it from happening, now they will just have added anger towards the authorities.

I think it's necessary to acknowledge the history, respect and in some cases be proud of your nation.
What is not necessary, is aggressive promotion and reinstatement of racist and isolationist cultural norms like these retards want. They literally want to take us back to how things were before the second world war, undoing everything tens of millions of people died for.

Patreotism is the belief that your country is better than other countries and that by being born in that country you share something with your countrymen.
The name of wanting your country to be better is, well, "wanting your country to be better".
The proper term for aggressive patriotism is 'Chauvinism', to be precise.
You can still be a patriot and criticize your country's decisions.
If anything you could argue that a true patriot should criticize their country's actions in order to see change for the better.
