Facepunch, what's the drive to communicate on the forum?

This is purely philosophical and scientific question, but why do you visit facepunch? why do you reply on facepunch?
They say, with social media, such as facebook, twitter, when you see a reply, message or something interesting, you get a hit of dopamine, on that scientific point, do you believe you get the same kind of response when posting/reading replies on here? Do you come to facepunch for news? Do you feel part of a community here on facepunch?
Fun place with fun people.
Cool dudes who play vidya and sweet memes.
Discussions are generally civil, culture encourages actually putting a level of thought into what you post, I'm allowed to criticize a video game without getting hung by a crazed swarm of fanatics and like stuff without getting called a shill.
4chan is nonsensically negative when it isn't horny along with /pol/ leaking into almost every board I care to browse, Reddit just comes off as a bunch of people scrambling over each other for karma and is a pain in the ass to navigate, and social media is just for cheap laughs at shitposts. Facepunch is the only place I consistently enjoy browsing and participating in.
sometimes i say a funny word like pee and the ratings come pouring out
Dopamine
Good people, interesting discussions, pretty reliable news, video games and funny pictures.
Also Coins and levels are nice little additions to Newpunch I enjoy.
Not as shit as the rest of online discussion, primarily. Also is (or was) in that happy little niche where it's large enough to have frequent posts yet not too large where you'd never see another familiar face.
Funny pictures mostly, don't post on here as much as I used to. I remember when this place would track all of your ratings to your profile, the urge to farm funnies or winners was serious. Only tracking ratings from post to post was probably the best choice the forum made in terms of encouraging post quality
I think garry is a pretty cool guy. Eh change forum and doesn't afraid of anything.
I've been here so long it's part of my routine. I find it offers a light sampling of the internet and I get my fill in an hour or so.
It's my old man's newspaper, I skip most sections but I wouldn't know what to do to fill in time if the few I browsed were gone.
It's just a nice place where you can chat about stuff and the discussion stays relatively focused on the topic at hand. Unlike Reddit where shit derails quickly and there really isn't any semblance of one on one communication with others.
I've been here for 8 years now, and I don't really talk much. I enjoy mostly just seeing what you guys have to say about everything going on in the world and whatever fun things you have to share.
Facepunch is one of the few places that I disagree and feel encouraged enough to continue reading. Like, most places usually say "Hey, this shit ain't good because I say so" but here is "This isn't good due to the following reasons". The dopamine released when I get a positive rating is fairly good, and the community is really great. I know some users more than others, but they all have a good mood for a chat or general shitpost.
The other circles I'm in aren't even capable of typing complete sentences.
The memes
Being one of the few places on the entire internet which isn't maintained/used by rabid idiots probably helps.
Also as fairly antisocial person, I don't talk too much or hang out with other people IRL so this is something like my substitute.
Mostly for the dopamemes.
Also, I agree with others here that there's more civil discussion to be had than in most places. Forums as a general concept have been dying for years, replaced by stuff like Reddit, but Reddit sucks for discussion due to the upvote/downvote post promotion logic. I prefer to read everything, even if it's something I find disagreeable.
Discord is too fast and reddit is a joke when it comes to having conversations
After 13 years it's mostly just habit and part of my routine.
Some times it is funny
LMAO pics & porn
gmod nostalgia
Something to do, mostly. That, and history, I originally came here...fuck, nearly 12 years ago now...for Garry's Mod stuff.
people here are worthwhile to listen to
on the occasion you have something to say, facepunchers care to listen
you listen enough, you let yourself learn and change
so much of the internet is grandstanded, commercialized, thirsty for attention and praise.
it's nice to forget, get back to a place where shit don't mean fuck here and everyone knows it, sniggering to each other.
I love shitposting
The Oify Orgys make it great
As someone with an english degree, it's nice to find a place on the internet where people largely capitalize things correctly and type in complete sentences, instead of communicating via reaction gif.
Reddit is too tame, 4chan should only be consumed in small concentrated doses and there's not that many places like Facepunch left.
I like the madness here.
