Fucking. God damn it.
AUGH. Where's my god damn coat. I'm going to go protest but motherfucker am I going to let Trump know just how much I'm going to hate on top of what he's doing here how I feel about him forcing me to get out in the god-damn cold.
Oh fuck, already? I was expecting the line would be Rosenstein, but ok!
The protests will start if the new AG doesn't recuse.
Let's see if these protests are all that they were hyped up to be.
The TINATL site isn't saying The Plan is in effect, and Sessions being fired is explicitly listed as "one step short of the break glass moment", not cause for immediate mass protest.
Got a better source? Is Galland one of the people running TINATL?
Executive Director of MoveOn, who run the site. Has been retweeted by the MoveOn twitter account too
how many fuckin steps do there need to be jfc
The website is being updated

It's too early.
well fuck
I will be near one and will take pictures if I get the chance, unfortunately I have a class around 5PM tomorrow.
The point was to have clear-cut lines - this is the point where we give up on the government functioning without people forcing their hand, and shut down the country until it's dealt with.
There are plenty of reasons Sessions could have been fired that had nothing to do with the SC investigation. Firing Sessions because, say, the government is decriminalizing marijuana and Sessions refuses to stop prosecuting it, would have been a perfectly valid thing and had no reason to trigger The Plan. Since Sessions was fired with the transparent intention of shutting down Mueller, it is reasonable to trigger The Plan anyways.
I was on board with country-crippling protests two years ago. I just need to make sure I'm not alone.
yea should've at least waited for the trigger to be pulled on Rosenstein which supposedly will be in the next 48 hours.
Good, but I'm nervous that it isn't going to be as massive as it should be because the 'red line' is ever so slightly blurry.
She said on twitter they're updating the website, I think this is a case of, "Why wait until the last minute when we can have our voices heard now when it matters most?"
Seriously, this happens right after the midterms, everyone is still riding the politics high so I do think it's better to do this now rather than wait until Mueller hits the chopping block.
I'd love to see the look on their faces if/when the Rosenstein thing doesn't happen.
This is what, the third misfire?
I'm usually wary about blowing political wads early, but yeah I think this is a chance to tap into post-midterm glow and prevent something instead of just reacting.
They're gonna waste it on Sessions? Everyone knew he was gonna go eventually. The President is not overstepping his authority or breaking much precedent by doing it, either. It's just suspicious. Should've waited for Rosenstein. They're just gonna make everyone look like crybabies.
I don't get why people are hung up on Rosenstein? If Whitaker has taken over the investigation then Rosenstein literally doesn't matter at all anymore, he could stay or be fired and it would have zero impact on what Whitaker could do
They can't blueball Californians for 2 years.
There are also ~indications~ that whatever they're up to at DOJ, time is of the essence:

Whitaker, by law, is required to recuse due to the investigation potentially implicating him. If he does so, the investigation proceeds unaffected.
However, it is extremely unlikely he will do so - Rosenstein, as DAG, is the obvious pick for Acting AG, so passing him over basically proves that the reason for the firing is to terminate Mueller, so Whitaker just won't recuse.
I do think it would be most prudent to wait until Whitaker actually takes some kind of action. Right now the threat is too nebulous.
Too late, you've already sounded the alarm bells for everyone to protest.
What a goof, they had a good hand and waste it on literally day 1 after the midterms.
Trump is also transferring oversight authority over Mueller from Rosenstein over to this new guy
Hold on I just read The Plan and one of the conditions has actually unequivocally been met
Actions that would prevent the investigation from being conducted freely, such as replacing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Mueller’s current supervisor, or repealing the regulations establishing the office
From NYT:
Mr. Whitaker assumes control of the Russia investigation, raising questions about the future of the inquiry led by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.
Until now, the investigation has been overseen by Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general
I don't know if Whitaker is required by law to recuse. It's just the decent thing to do. Although I don't know in what regards the investigation might implicate him like you say. All I've heard is he wrote an op-ed about his dislike for the Investigation. So idk really.
I think it refers to this:
https://twitter.com/KenDilanianNBC/status/1060284515992641544?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1060284515992641544&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FKenDilanianNBC%2Fstatus%2F1060284515992641544
It's not required by law but by precedent.
Of couse, it would be far from the first thing to break precedents in the last 2 years.
I don't think it's early at all. This is the perfect time to do it. Rosenstein isn't in control anymore. End of story.
Until I actually see the site update, I'm treating this news as "they are planning to signal everyone to protest". Once it updates, sure, protests are on, time to go loud, but that's not happened yet so we're not committed to protesting.
