I tried to find an article about it, but alas.
I'm actually surprised CoD: WW2 managed to outsell PUBG in 2017.
Wow, I knew Call of Duty was big but I maybe didn't realize it was so dominate year after year
"Call of Duty is dying!"
Uh-huh.
i was thinking of the wrong NPD for a second
Well, Pubg on console wasn't really a until December.
With next to no console sales, you're being dependant on one platform, against a game that sells millions across all of the major console players.
And these are just US stats, so the china inflation doesn't mean shit
US only, so isn't too surprising
dude I love Zelda: Ocarina Time
What? I thougt the cod games were loosing popularity for a few years now. I guess only on PC.
y'all forget this is the US we're talking about
And that's why Activision had the balls to drop the single player campaign entirely this year. Because seemingly nothing can sink the Call of Duty ship.
Yes and no
Relative to CoD itself, CoD is selling less and less as time goes by
Relative to games in general, its selling fantastically
Because its core audience just cycles out and new young buyers always come in, it'll always have some following. It's not marketed towards actual gamers after all.
man i miss rock band
whaat
No way Rock Band outsold GTA IV
Part of me doesn't quite believe the older data, for instance Gran Turismo released in mid 1998 in the US and sold several million worldwide, but Ocarina of time had sold 2.5 million in the time it was released to the end of 1998. I don't easily have the US sales for Gran Turismo in PS1 but we can easily see that it had sold 4 million copies in the US whilst it was being sold.
It's weird to me that even in the tweet which shows the top 3 each year, there are no PS1 games. The PlayStation 1 outsold the n64 2:1 in the US, and it's top selling games were generally of the same sales figures as the N64 if a little less. The only thing I can think of is the use of "dollar sales", when the n64 carts RRP'd for $60-80, and the ps1 games $40-60.
Ranked by dollar sales. Rockband + controllers was fucking expensive, and popular.
Of course, totally forgot about the controllers
mofo GTA 5 was 5 years ago? fuck I am getting old
Eyuuup. I remember picking it up on release and waiting like an hour and a half for it to install files on my ps3.
*siiiiiiips*
Duh, what did you think the 5 in the title stood for?
“But MTX are an unfortunate reality of the industry.”
Different company but complete horseshit all the same.
Based on this, I think it's safe to say PUBG's development team isn't listed as a DLP member:

A lot of PUBG's scene is also carried in numbers by China, for some reason.
That's a truly disgusting list.
I would be VERY surprised if Madden was even half of Fifa. Literally nobody outside of the US cares about american football. Fifa is a force of evil, but a globalized force of evil.
No wonder they keep making the same game over and over. The formula works
