My fav historic bolt action
IMHO, the K98K and the M1903 are the best bolt actions in terms of ease of use. It might also be the fact they both came of the same bolt design from the Mauser brothers, but goddamn I would have to lie through my teeth if I were to say its not fantastic.
If you are interested in in the rapid rate of firearms development that took place near the end of the 19th century I highly recommend C&Rsenal, a channel that does spectacularly indepth videos about weapons that were used during World War 1. Here is their video on the Gewehr 98.
If you can get your hands on decent quality examples, Arisakas are pretty impressive too. Also I have to admit Krags are really smooth operating. I know the rotary dump magazine is really weird, but not having to work against spring pressure or grind your fingers on a stripper clip makes them a joy to load.
