Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham said during a post announcement press conference that Diablo Immortal is just the beginning.
"Many of us over the last few years have shifted from playing primarily
desktop to playing many hours on mobile, and we have many of our best
developers now working on new mobile titles across all of our IPs. Some
of them are with external partners like Diablo Immortal. Many of them
are being developed internally only, and we'll have information to share
on those in the future,"
"For our diehard PC fans, we will say though, we still have multiple
Diablo teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects. So we
haven't forgotten about them,"
Honestly they could've said this at any other time than right now but that shows how little they care the whole thing

Beginning of the end
But guys don't you have phones? Why aren't you respecting mobile you mysoginists?
And I will continue to completely ignore them.
I'm gonna go with casual corporate lie. They aren't making mobile games for their normal audience, they're making them for the asian market where a shitty mobile game full of microtransactions will rake in money. If that's what they want, more power to them, but announcing that shit at Blizzcon was a really stupid idea. Doubling down and staying in the news for being an idiot is an even dumber idea.
If they had an ounce of sense they would have waited until they announced Diablo 4 and presented it alongside it. Remember how people liked Fallout Shelter? That's because it was announced alongside Fallout 4 and came out pretty much as soon as it was announced. People that wouldn't usually go for a mobile game picked it up because they were excited for the new Fallout game and could play this one as soon as they watched the presentation.
The problem is that its literaly spitting in the face of fans with:
not giving fans what they actually want and have wanted for a long time, diablo 2 remake or diablo 4
giving instead the ultimate blasphemy instead, mobile games
such mobile games that will obviously be heavily monitized, we ARE talking about Activision
and in the end, still spitting in fan's faces by saying stuff like "Don't you have phones?" which IMO, I don't think even he believed in what he said and was more of a publisher say whispered onto him
In short, the problem is that instead of giving people ANYTHING resembling what many have wanted for a very long time, they're giving the exact opposite, that even a blind man can see its nothing but a way to make more money.
You can argue all you want about "the company needs to make money" and "oh just don't play them then", but people spent quite a bit of money to go to Blizzcon, to hopefully see something amazing being revealed, but alas, they didn't.
If it were me in their shoes, I'd probably never go again. I'd feel extremely disappointed.
How can you even play many hours on mobile? The games are pretty much made for you to click on some button for five minutes then wait until your cooldown period is over so you can keep clicking.
"Blizzard is working on multiple stock drops across all their IPs"
I guess its somewhere between the two.
Mobile gaming has a large audience but thats because more people own smartphones, not because people are migrating to play games on mobile
Plus mobile games will never replace consoles or PC as a medium to play games if their library mostly consists of identical skinner box bullshit that makes stupid amounts of money in one single region
And its coming from the same industry that said single player games are dead in order to push out multiplayer games because thats totally what everyone wants and not because they can be easily monetized so I'm not gonna take their words seriously
Looking forward to the next Starcraft game being Blizzard's spin on CnC Rivals.
Fucking hell.
What dipshit is the one greenlighting these ideas? There's got to be some committee of MBAs who are designing these games while the develops are all hating their lives

They said that the new Diablo mobile is really just a reskin of a Chinese knock off? I can imagine the same happening with Overwatch.
Star Craft mobile? Overwatch Mobile? This is a joke. The only goddamn game that works on portables is hearthstone
They already made Overwatch into that and now they're spreading out into the phone market, like the tendrils of a great big filthy octopus powered purely by money.
So Blizzard decided to stop competing with Valve to see how hard they can one up each other and started competing to see how hard they can one down each other. Can't wait to see Valve selling HL2 dildoes, although ironically it would still be less insulting than releasing Diablo on mobile.
A sex toy crowbar would be kinda awesome to be honest.
Can Hearthstone count as the Warcraft one so I don't have to suffer again
It's possible to have longer play time games on mobiles. Just because the majority of the market is predatory freemium model time wasters, doesn't mean it can't be done.
Plenty of racing games, platformers, semi-decent tower defence, etc. games are available after all. You just need to build the game in such a way it can be played in shorter bursts. MGS: Peace Walker managed to make a decent portable MGS game after all, it just required the missions to be relatively small pieces of content you can drop out of and come back to. A similar approach works for mobile phone games.
And even worse, they're putting their top talent on the job. Ugh
Blizzard's dark days have officially arrived, and just like every hugely successful company that creates something, money has conquered them and became their main drive and goal
Can't have a PR nightmare when your company is so shitty at PR to begin with. The nightmare just becomes your lifestyle
Money is a slow corruption. I think everyone who gets into this business has the same idea to "not become corrupted", but when you're in it for 10+ years you start to change slowly. Plus you need a
screw loose in your head to begin with to develop games, so you probably get abused and toyed around with by people who are drama queens.
"All IPs"? So where's Rock and Roll Racing
"If you saw the amount of money phone games games make, you'd understand." - Blizzard
A company wants to make games for wider audience, why is this an issue? They're still working on desktop Diablo, there's no point forcing its public reveal if it's not ready, or that's just gonna lead to more upset. If Diablo mobile was ready to show, why not show it.
I'm with my mobile all the time, so if they make some good quality games I will play them. But I'll still be playing Diablo 3 and WoW too
Holy shit I thought about that aswell
I still don't get how people can play on mobile so well
I can't wait for Overwatch to stop receiving updates to shift development towards "Overwatch:Mobile Omnic Attack"
overwatch switch?
I can already browse Rule34 and watch videos of people screaming obscenities on my phone, so I don't see what a mobile Overwatch could do for me.
Supposedly they are already working on an overwatch 2 so...
