• Stopping web pages from force switching tabs to nearly opened tabs
    9 replies, posted
A problem I've noted recently is some websites now force change tabs to the new tab on opening. On most sites (thankfully) you can open as many new tabs as you like and you don't have to view them until you click on the tab. I presume this is something some websites are doing to stop people opening loads of tabs, but that's simply how I browse. I open loads of tabs, then examine them at leisure. It's annoying as fuck. Does anyone know if there's some setting in Firefox that will over ride this?

I made it clear this only happens on some websites so it's clear this wasn't a general problem.
hit me up with an example
To the Stars (Puella Magi Madoka Magica) | Sufficient Velocity Try the links in the first post.
Try a middle-mouse button click instead of Ctrl+click. Just tried it on the links in the example you posted, and it didn't force-switch like Ctrl+click did.
I'd prefer a solution that didn't force me to change my browsing habits.
Thanks, thought this would be it, but had to be sure. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1755/7b81801c-db79-4bf4-ae35-11cadd5d6e8d/image.png The Rel=nofollow is nothing (unsure why I arrowed it) but the target="_blank" (which is a topic in another thread), is a instruction to open in new window or tab. Technically, it should be following the browser rule stated above. But It's an oversight of mozilla There's an empty bugthread for it https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1425401 https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/24lpy0/how_to_prevent_target_blank_from_opening_in_new/ Tab Mix Plus might be able to fix it, but it's a legacy addon, so you wouldn't be able to install it on firefox anyway
Wonderful. I was hoping there might be something in about:config. Guess not.
