It's long and more or less a diet content cop but it really covers a lot of strong points and is worth watching.
she could come take care of me, I spent like a full minute trying to get my pants on today before I realized one leg was inside out and the other was normal. I thought my pants had just become designed for demons overnight.
Saw this the other day. Thought I would watch only 5 minutes but ended up watching the entire thing, it's really fascinating.
I stopped watching the podcasts a while ago so I can't say I picked up on all his questionable behaviour but the decrease in quality of the podcast was extremely obvious. The first batch was great (with Idubbbz, Post, Joji, Salvia Erik), my impression was that the podcast would be an outlet for interesting youtubers... Instead we just starting getting this circuit of stand-up comedians who go on a new podcast every week.
It's like H3 completely misunderstood where they came from and their audience, and just tried to be like every other big budget podcast.
I think they got cold feet when they were losing money on the lawsuit, and resorted to 'easy' content that would get more views. And ever since they feel like they can't go back.
Honestly, if you're going to rely on YouTube alone, financially, you're not doing yourself any favours, you can't treat it like a career anymore, it's just not feasible.
I stopped paying attention after the first run of E+H stuff started to fall off and both channels went into limbo. I watched a few of the podcasts when it was new and then Ethan just started getting on my nerves.
I think the podcast could have been their thing, but the guests started to get really boring and questionable. Ethan popping up here and there with his useless gamerbro politics didn't help either.
all the actual points this guy makes are good (that jontron podcast section was painful to watch) but man i wish he'd tone down the comedy, i really don't find it funny at all so having to skip through extended bits is pretty annoying
that could've helped cut down the excessive length too
Yep. Even Videogamedunkey opened a merch store, despite his content continuing to be gold and receiving millions of views per video.
I've seen the bits of bill burr absolutely destroying ethan but that shit with shoenice is fucked.
I liked the original channel back when it blew up but man once you find out about this kind of shit it's hard to go back and watch the original content. It's like finding out kevin spacey was fuckin kids or bill cosby being a rapist. Just puts a weird vibe to their productions.
Despite? No, he knows what he's doing, the number of views he's getting and then having a merch' store means he's more likely to get people to buy his merch'.
There wasn't really any need for this drama to start. I think everyone who follows H3 knows about his dark side. But it's a good video, and if Ethan can take the heat and learn from it, it's worth it.
This is a bit melodramatic. Shit happens when you get monumental success and lose sight of your original inspiration. H3H3 was not temperamentally ready for the success he received. That doesn't mean he isn't deserving of his success.
If he still cares about the original feelings of older videos, then he'll get back in the groove over time. I think he's just re-calibrating.
I stopped long before he started podcasting...
Holy fuck he got super pompous
And look, to be fair, dunkey doesn't really shill his merch store that much at all. I think he had a link at the end of one video around the time he launched it, and he might mention it on twitter once in a while - but overall he doesn't do it obnoxiously like many youtubers (especially the absolute most popular and toxic ones, like the Paul brothers).
Fuck the bit with JonTron was pretty sad to watch.
he can't and he won't
Going from Jon, the old comedy guy and Osman getting bullied and shit on to Bill Burr basically verbally smashing his face in and treating him like a nobody was super satisfying.
This video was the nail in the coffin from me. I haven't really watched h3h3's content lately, because something felt off. Couldn't put my finger on it until I watched this, so now I've unsubbed from their content.
Relying on YouTube for income is just another wage slave scenario. It's important people realize this.
I legitimately don't think I could sit and listen to a podcast with the two of them.
Ethan is a prick, and Hila... exists.
The last straw for me was when he threw pewdiepie under the bus for his video about Betterhelp. I was already getting annoyed at his usage of the soundboard but it made me realize how much of a shitty person he is.
i could never understand how people could stomach watching h3h3 from the start, even back when fp worshipped them and they seemed all innocent and such, something felt really off to me. not to mention i didn't really see how they were different to any other content creators that followed the reaction video format. it's just lazy to rely on other people's content for your own.
The way she treated that camera person? Absolute cunt tbh.
Doesn't really undo the fact that Ethan is a massive shit-flinging hypocrite.
Other youtubers have done this sort of recalibration much more elegantly than Ethan, because their personality, professionalism and overall behavior were much more appropriate.
Ethan likes to hide a lot behind the sudden nature of his success and his lack of preparedness, but if he's smart enough to know about the issue and how it happened, then he should be smart enough to know how to fix it and should at least try to do so instead of further entrenching himself in his stupidity while hiding behind a flimsy defense of "I'm sorry I have depression" or some other stupid shit.
That part with Shoenice is upsetting. That's Keem levels of cruelty and pettiness. Christ.
It's really amazing just how much of a hypocrite Ethan is, standing by PDP when he does so much horrible shit, then viciously going after him when he actually does something decent.
This has always been my thoughts. I've genuinely never understood how people find h3h3 funny and whenever i'd see him do a video with someone else like idubbbz i could never shake the feeling that he was dragging the video down and it'd have been better and more funny without him there.
Didn't think I'd watch the entire thing but I somehow did. Jesus christ I thought the Jon bit was bad but than Bill Burr...fucking hell. Incredibly well put together video, arguments, and honestly gripped the entire time so props. Seeing it blow up now so I'm curious to see if H3H3 responds.
I met both Ethan & Hila when I worked at Starbreeze because of the Payday 2 DLC. I worked in Marketing so I ended up going to dinner, helped them film their first fan meetup, reference photography for the models, lots of meetings - and from my experience it's almost like Podcast-Ethan is a character. I mean like it's not even the same person. Granted this was a year and a half ago almost, things can change, but the dude I met was a totally chill, relaxed guy who I had some really deep discussions with about the state of YouTube at the time. It was nice, so seeing the Podcasts (as of late especially) is super-jarring. I wanna say it's a matter of on-screen/off-screen persona, but I dunno.
I'm only at the part with Jon and I don't know how much more I can take, every time he cuts to the podcast there's this feeling of white hot shame passing over me and I keep pausing because I just want Ethan to shut up.
